La Sportiva TC Pro Vibram XS Edge Climbing Shoe
November 11, 2009
My pair stretched about a half size after 20+ half-day sessions. They are lined, so I'm not expecting anything more.

La Sportiva TC Pro Vibram XS Edge Climbing Shoe
November 11, 2009
TC Pros will not stretch nearly as much as any of the models you've mentioned. I sized down 1 full size for a tight, but not uncomfortable trad fit. The toe-box is as roomy as the Mythos. The Miura doesn't feel even vaugley the same; i can stand on dime edges with the TC Pro while in my Miuras I can, but i FEEL IT.

186. Stability at speeds and touring is not an issue with 186 as the tips actually reduce your effective edge.

Scarpa T1 Telemark Ski Boot
March 25, 2009
Go to your local ski shop and see what the boot pros can do with adding shims around the liner cuff. I made a custom home-job for the same issue; it seems all my scarpa boots pre 06 are meant for big calves. however i have not experienced this issue with new scarpa models ive purchased so have faith...

Black Diamond Ascension Nylon STS Skins
March 4, 2009
Depends on the rocker. I have tried it on the K2 ObSethed's, but not with something as rockered as say, the HellBent. The ObSethed's handled it well, hardly noticed a different in the fact that there was a rocker.-------Never tried with tail rocker, but BD Megawatts tour just fine...-------I skin with Praxis pows (reverse camber & rocker) w/o giving up too much performance. Not pretty, but do-able, esp if you are using rockered skis for their purpose. i.e. skinning for turns on deep days.

Black Diamond GlideLite Nylon STS Skins
March 4, 2009
I haven't had issues with the tip adaptors, even on skis with up to 130 tips. Re: width, buy the closest size to your tip, then trim with a razorafter you've applied to your skis. I.e. I recc' buying 110 vs 100s. STS tail clips work fine on rounded tails. Or at least they do for my ANTs.

Scarpa T2 Telemark Ski Boot
February 10, 2009
Whiteboyborb: I suggest going to your local ski tech and having them fit you with heel shims. I have a low volume foot and often feel like liners don't "suck" my heel in place enough, even from the first blowing of a new liner. I've used what the ski-tech described as a "butterfly shim" on the liner to pinch/contract the liner along the heel. So far it has made the dead space in the heel disappear. Good luck.

Marmot Original DriClime Windshirt - Men's
February 5, 2009
I have a DriClime from a few years back, but have never experienced tears or rips from tree-skiing. This was my top layer for the hot skin laps in VT and the goat-path style descents. No issues yet and I have certainly "brushed" up against a few trees.

Karhu XCD 10th Mountain Ski
February 3, 2009
actually looking at thhe xcd guide, not the 10th mtnJay- Buy the XCD Guides. They're fatter underfoot and closer to giving you ease of travel for the conditions you describe. I've toured with em in crazy VT woods and they perform great.

Karhu XCD 10th Mountain Ski
February 3, 2009
Sounds like a rad set-up. XCD guides are great. 10cm longer isn't bad; remember touring is about glide as much as downhill is about turns. Haven't tried the bulldogs personally, but by their specs they seem on point for what you want.

Karhu XCD 10th Mountain Ski
February 3, 2009
Don't know what the 806 symbolizes, but 6'3" cc skis are about 180cm+ in length, and generally that fits a skier b/w 5'8" and 6'2", dependent upon the model/year of ski and the person's skill level. I would go try em out and see if you can turn em and how they respond generally.

I would strip the rottafellas and replace them with voile's basic 3-pin. my bud has drilled the next largest karhu offering - the xcd guides - twice w/o compromising performance or integrity. i'm pretty sure the top sheet and cores are almost identical for the 10th Mtn & XCD guide. don't know if there's a suitable nnn bc boot for you - i think the better choice is get new half boots and a cheap but efficient tele/cc set-up from voile.

Thule Fairings
January 30, 2009
Hey Becky, I am pretty sure you can leave this thing on going through a car wash. You might have to pick out a couple of the strings from the wash rollers though. If this can stay on running at 60 mph. A car wash is a light shower for this.-Becky: I used to live in VT and PA and ran my subaru w/ rack and fairing through auto carwashes without a problem. i know the signs say not to, but i've never had an issue.

Scarpa T1 Telemark Ski Boot
January 30, 2009
Buy the T1. T1s are stiffer, will help you drive your turns for a larger range of varied conditions, and are generally more versatile. It's the best bang for your buck in all conditions. As a beginner you want a boot that will handle everything from bumps to pow; the T1 will. Plus it performs decent on tours, albiet it is a bit heavy. The T2 is better if you plan to ski more sidecountry than on-piste, or if you are a lighter, shorter skier who doesn't need an all-around performance boot or likes groomers and trees vs. steeps. With that said, know I own T1s, T-race, and the T2x.

Five Ten Piton Climbing Shoe
January 29, 2009
The Piton is also leather, but being lined it will not stretch to the same extent as a Moccasym. If you sized down for the Moccasym 2 sizes, I would suggest sizing down 1 size for the Piton, if that. Remember, if you are intending this as a trad shoe you will like having a bit of comfort for longer pitches and cracks. Pick a size dependent on your intended use.

Five Ten Galileo Climbing Shoe- 2009
January 29, 2009
I have worn a 12.5 in the galileo and the mocasym...but the mocs are very stretched out and comfy after the break in period, while the galileos remain tighter and more performance oriented. i can't remember, but they might be synthetic so they stretch less-check on that.-The Galileo is synthetic and will stretch a max of a 1/2 size. The Mocasym will stretch up to 1 1/2 sizes; i.e size down 1-2 sizes for a decent fit in the Moc, but buy normal or one half-size smaller for the Galileo.
