Kanga Lumbar Pack - 2003 Model:
7"h x 12"w x 4.25"
EXCELLENT VALUE in an excellent pack:
Although very well constructed of durable, attractive materials, it is a very spartan pack--very much a "basic" lumbar pack (Just what we need!). It has no pockets on the outside other than the bottle holders. There are pockets inside: 3 for pens/pencils, and two 4" x 4" pockets mounted on the outside face and low in the pack. On the inside face of the pack there is a full-width 4.5" x 12" net pocket, and thats really just a divider, as it is inside the pack against the back, and only half-way up the inside back of the pack (Of course, it had to be mounted low to allow access: That its mounted low is good.). It does have the normal two water bottle holders-one on each side-each with bottom net for drainage of condensation, and each with a cinch draw strap around the center of the holder, but there are no cinch cords at the top as many models have. There is a 6.5" x 3/16" verticle reflective stripe on the outside at the center of the back: I seems to me that if the manufacturer is providing safety a reflection stripe, it should have made the stripe at least 1/2" wide, but I suppose they made it narrow for aesthetics, and for off-road hiking its really not needed. The pack is very well padded, which is probably unnecessary given its capacity. Its waist strap is cinched with a very nice, heavy duty bayonette-style buckle. It has a loop strap sewn into the top at the back for carrying when not on the waist. Its black except on the 4.5" wide top and 1.125" border at the top of each bottle holder, which are blue.
