The first problem I had with the Dynafit TLT verticle was finding a shop that could adjust them. After a number of calls to local shops in the East and in Montana where I was headed for a 3 day back country trip I found... no one who worked on Dynafits. The second problem--and this is a personal style issue, is that when I was treking, the rear bindings had a tendancy to rotate back into downhill mode, locking my heel in mid-step as one ski/boot would knock against the binding on the other foot). Annoying with a 40lb pack in deep snow to have to take the ski off, rotate the binding and then put the ski back on. This happened a number of times and got to be a hassle.
While these are the lightest and we are all pretty obsessed with weight, the difference between this and the marker is about a pound per binding. In other words the added weight is much less of a hassle than having a pair of bindings no one can adjust and which keep slipping into different modes.
Finally, skiing at the Resort, these bindings were problematic. At 6'3" and 190 lbs (sans gear) i had trouble staying in these bindings even with the DIN cranked up (to 10--yeah that's as high as they go). I'm a fast crusier and they were AOK for that. Hit any bumps? Fuggedabowdit!
Hey, we all ski differently and while these bindings did not work for me, they certainly could for someone else. I just wanted to share my own experience.
