I did a lot of research before deciding to buy these poles. I must admit the price was a big factor for me. I used the poles in Virginia on the Rock Castle Gorge Trail. The first four miles had a gain of 2000 feet-some stretches steeper than others. I loved being able to use the poles for both stability and extra momentum on the steep climbs, and they worked great for the downhills with the anti-shock feature. I bragged about them to my hiking companions the whole time. The telescoping locks were sturdy and the grips very comfortable. I just wish I had them a lot sooner! I am a big guy, and they had plenty of backbone to make me feel sure of them in every situation.
