Millet Radikal Boot - Men's

Millet Radikal Boot - Men's

these are the boots id been waiting for. ideal for japan where i live and guide. good to about -20, light, low volume toe, non-absorbent, narrow fit. sort of an alpine boot on the way to a speed boot.
the ridgidity of the boot impresses me, with the upper being more shell-like, and the amount of rubber making for it keeping its shape well.
the sole is nice sticky stuff and has suprising smearing capacity.
things i dont like;
- sole pattern could be improved with a dedicated edging zone along the inside front.
- the water guard over the tongue is just the right length to get in the way and be pointless unless fiddled with.
- for some unknown reason they dont have the heel cup pads almost every other boot on the market has.
- they dont breath much which is an issue when it warms up/drytooling

for what they are, they fill a dynamic niche - super light, precise, technically very usable. they are the beginning of a new style of boot.
interestingly, ive seen next years version and think its worth hanging out for if you can. its got an intregrated gaiter and uses the BOA system which im a fan of on multi-pitch stuff.
much of millet is parallel to or adaptations of mammut, BD, MHW etc, but here theyve gone into something new and interesting.
