Pearl Izumi Thermal Arm Warmers

Pearl Izumi Thermal Arm Warmers

Rating for this product: 3 December 20, 2011

These are super soft with a fleece lining, and do a great job cutting wind and keeping in warmth. If it is really cold (below 40F) I pair them with a winter jersey, and they make a huge difference. I am 5'8" and ordered a medium. They are tight enough, but they are very long. They cover my entire arm, from shoulder joint to wrist. But they stay in place, so once I got used to them, they provide a lot of protection from the cold. I recommend them for sure, but they may be a strange fit if you have very short arms.

Soft and warm

Pearl Izumi Thermal Leg Warmers

Pearl Izumi Thermal Leg Warmers

Rating for this product: 4 December 20, 2011

These make a huge difference in weather below 50F. The inside has a fleece lining, which is super soft. They don't keep wind out, but they do a great job of cutting it down significantly. I'm 5'8" and ordered a medium. The fit is pretty good. They go from my upper thigh all the way down to the ankle. I put my shorts over them, and never have any trouble with them slipping. I did a long sub 40F ride last week, and felt comfortable (warmth-wise!) the whole time. I definitely recommend.

MontBell Alpine Light Down Parka - Men's

November 22, 2011

Does this jacket have hand warmer pockets, or are they nylon? Also, does anyone know the differences between the alpine light and the MontBell Frost Smoke Down Parka? I see the alpine is a bit heavier.

Thanks!

Blackburn Mars 3.0 Flasher Tail Light

Can this light be attached by clipping onto the back of a saddle bag? Or does it need to be attached to the saddle post?

Thanks

Big Agnes Slide Mountain SL2 Super Light Tent: 2-Person 3-Season

Big Agnes Slide Mountain SL2 Super Light Tent: 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 4 July 22, 2011

I've only LRT'ed (Living Room Tested) the Big Agnes Slide Mountain SL2 so far, and will update when I get out of the city and lost in the woods. But here are my initial impressions: It packs small, and opens very big, thanks to the two small cross-poles that keep the walls practically vertical. The fly is very heavy, probably as much as the poles, stakes, and tent combined. This is in part due to two large doors with zippers. The clips to hold the poles and the fly are plastic clasps, rather than metal grommets, so be careful hammering stakes - I am sure there is an alternative if the clips break, but it seems a little precarious. The BOA system is easy to setup.

My only complaint is that the floor material is two pieces, with a sealed seam running right across the width. I can't figure out why BA wouldn't make it one piece, especially since the footprint is a solid sheet. I definitely recommend getting the footprint to alleviate wear and tear on this seam.

Overall, it is really spacious with lots of vestibule space, considering how small it packs down (6x20). I can't wait to get it out on the beach later this summer and in the mountains this fall.
