Great plate. I put food on it and it stayed there. Then I ate the food. Only problem is you have to wash it or it gets everything all messy.

Black Diamond GlideLite Nylon STS Skins

Black Diamond GlideLite Nylon STS Skins

Rating for this product: 5 February 2, 2009

These pack down significantly easier and smaller than my pair of BD Ascension STS's. They dry out faster too. I've had these on powder, slush, windslab and boilerplate and they perform perfectly. I noticed a smoother and slightly faster glide compared to the Ascensions.

I agree that BD should make a slightly bigger sack for these. That's my only gripe. Do yourself a favor and take them to a shop to get cut. The provided razor sucks hard and breaks after the second cut and if you don't have a nice sharp thick razor you'll just f them all up using your old picnic pocket knife.

A unique glove that fits a specific need.

Armada Convict Glove

Armada Convict Glove

Rating for this product: 5 January 16, 2009

FIRST, BEYOTCHES! Finally a decent MID-WEIGHT glove made of fine leather. I"m a fan of leather gloves. That's all i own. Most light to mid-weight gloves seem to be of the synthetic variety so i'm glad Armada ( a wicked good ski company, too, by the way) has made these. The Convict has a very unique design, both in their available color combinations and liberal use of grommets as a functional design element. Most importantly, they made these gloves with just two pieces to create the palm area - so there is only one seam on the palm. Other gloves with multiple panels on the palm seem to wear poorly over time. i bought size L, using their sizing chart and the fit is perfect - snug, low profile, maintaining dexterity while still insulating well. i used them yesterday in 36degree weather and they were quite warm. i assume they would even hold up to 15degree weather. I now have a pair of cold weather gloves, these mid-weight armadas, and a light weight bc.com pair so i'm set for years. These will make those Hestra buyers poo in their pants. guaranteed.

Sickest. Boot. Ever.

Dynafit ZZeus TF-X Ski Boot - Men's

Dynafit ZZeus TF-X Ski Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 23, 2008

I waited a loooong time to replace my 4year old boots and did lots of research and tried on lots of boots. Doing more and more touring, i wanted a boot with walk mode, but moreover wanted a boot that behaved properly while skiing DOWNHILL. This is The Boot. So light, comfortable and yet as responsive as my Langes! Feels like you're skiing in your bedtime slippers, only these slippers friggin rock. Dynafit did right by maintaining a traditional alpine overlap design. You will never feel like you sacrificed performance for weight. Fits ANY binding system too so I'll grow old with these as i migrate to lighter and lighter setups on account of my messed up knees and penchant for hard drinking.

Icelantic Nomad Alpine Ski

Icelantic Nomad Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 December 22, 2008

Finally got these in a true test situation.

I am in love. Still trying to figure out how to tell my girlfriend about the all the fun, naughty times I've already spent with these dirty little skis.

The PNW has been getting nuked and I spent two days last week at crystal mtn, wa on these bad boys. I am 5 11 about 180lbs and have the 181cm's mounted with marker dukes. They are super floaty and light. Made skiing chest deep pow a breeze with the 105mm underfoot, wide shovel and tail and medium stiff flex that is very forgiving. Blasts variable conditions and hardpack very well but be sure to widen your stance to fully engage the edges while carving. All that width underfoot can create some serious early-season foot fatigue though!

All in all, a fine specimen of a traditional-shape, all mountain ski, though I do prefer my Line Prophet 100's on a non-powder day as they are a bit slimmer in dimensions. Glad Icelantic made the longer skis this season, and if you are like me and was waiting until they did, now is the time to pick up a pair. You will not be sorry.

A word of warning: People are generally confused when they see these skis. Get ready to explain the history of Ghengis Khan, his reign of terror, and how it relates metaphorically to the art of skiing. These make people who buy only K2's every year very uncomfortable and illicit vacant stares of sheer terror in adult women and children under 12.

Wow. Love this jacket. does double duty as both a very specific-use insulation layer and as an everyday exterior jacket. To those commenting on its tight fit and short torso length: this is a very specific-use puffy. It is meant to fit a bit tight, like a sweater and most probably UNDER a shell jacket as an insulation layer...that's why you find the sleeves being a perfect fit but assume the length is too short. it's not. Just be happy someone (other than patagonia ((boo)) makes this and in doing so fills the gap between packability, weight, warmth and wind/waterproof breathability with this awesome puff puff.

Great sock for the price! I prefer wool socks to synthetics as they keep their shape much better after repeated used and don't get "brittle" and fall apart when dried in the hot dryer or by the campfire or when you have to use your camp stove to dry everything after skiing into that creek that i told you about last week which was covered with ice but today turned out not to be, dumbass.

Good Lord in Heaven!

Line Prophet 100 Alpine Ski

Line Prophet 100 Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 November 24, 2008

I agree with mr. canary above. While I was thinking I'd pull these out of the quiver only on the big days, I found them fantastic in everything but moguls. Then again, I've avoided moguls since 1987. I just happened to get funneled into a spot where there was no avoiding them. I'm 5ft 11in, about 190lbs and after getting used to the length (my cheater/touring skis are 175cm Armada ARV's) I was easily able to butter the crusty nubs and through trees. They're surprisingly agile but not at all too stiff (thinking back to my Rossi XXX's, ugh). Up here in the PNW/BC area we have highly variable conditions and I felt confident skiing through them all. One hell of an all-around ski. Go shorter if you fear the reaper. Classic dimensions on what is already a classic ski. thank you bc.com.

Rating for this product: 5 November 21, 2008

Just got these literally 22minutes ago, so in lieu of a real "performance" review I thought I should alert the aesthetically inclined buyers that the graphics on these particular skis are quite a bit darker than shown in the photos. They also have an over all skewing towards a red tint. Not a big issue but just something I thought y'all might want to know because you're gearheads and geeks and you know it. Will post my thoughts on performance, like you give a damn, once we get some friggin snow, mang. Thanks again, bc.com. Great processing speed and unrivaled customer service as usual! - jeff
