This is handily one of the best convertible jackets out there. It breathes perfectly. The fabric is buttery smooth and comfortable. It can be worn in a range from the mid 50's to just above freezing with appropriate layering. But, my biggest problem with this new model is the sizing.

I have an older version of of the Elite Barrier that needed replacing and the sizing has noticeably changed. I'm 6'1, 208lbs, have about a 44-45" chest, and a standard shirt sleeve length of 35. Based on the sizing chart I should go for an XL (which is what my old one was). This didn't work. Everything fits nicely; not a race fit, more relaxed fit. BUT, the sleeves are definitely too long and the cuff too loose. This is a major problem for me. Air flows straight up the cuffs and I get a lot of sleeve flapping. I've tried the L and its sleeves are okay, but it starts to run a more racer fit and tight in the chest. This might be OK for some, but I like some space to allow for layering. I even compared my old and this new one side-by-side and the difference is noticeable by maybe an inch to an inch and a half. One other con, they got rid of the front Napoleon/chest pocket.

So, bottom line for me is, what was a perfect jacket a few years ago, isn't any more and finds me stuck b/w sizes. So, I now need either tolerate some shortcomings, or look for a different brand. Sucks.

Since the sizing chart just goes to clothes right now thought I'd provide shoe cover chart provided by Realcyclist folks:

Small= US men's 3-5.5 and US women's 4-6.5

Medium= US Men's 6-8.5 and US Women's 7-9.5

Large= US Men's 9-11.5 and Women's 10-12.5

X Large= US Men's 11.5-13.5 and Women's 12.5-14.5

I was drawn to this shoe b/c of the price point. It's one of the only sub $200 shoes for winter road cycling. I've had my pair for two years now. And they are pretty good. But, these are NOT deep winter shoes. They will take you down to about freezing. And that will also require thick wool socks. While they do have Gore-tex, making them nicely waterproof, there is very little if any insulation (eg, Thinsulate). This is my biggest problem with these shoes: not warm enough. I was looking for an all winter solution in these and to that degree they really don't cut it. But, if you live in an area where it doesn't go below around 45 degrees, these might be for you.

BTW, the fit on these is pretty much true to size. But as with most winter shoes, you might want to go up a half to full size to accommodate thicker socks.

Read the other reviews about these bibs. They're pretty spot on. I'm on my second pair after having to return due to a frayed leg grip. They are also made of a pretty thin slick spandex. This second pair is now having a problem with an loosening seam. So, probably going to have to either exchange or get something new. Also, be aware that the Castelli Kiss chamois is slightly less padded than many other brands. So, if you're not used to it or plan to be in the saddle for a long ride, be forewarned...it's an acquired taste. Another thing, be SURE to size up at least one size. These have a very euro cut.

These aren't bad bibs, but they're definitely entry level Castellis and I question their durability. If you can get them on a sale like I did at about 45% off they might be worth it. Otherwise look for the slightly more expensive Castellis like the Dome.

I've been a big Vega fan for years and owned the Vega 1.0 model until I wore it out. For the money this light can't be beat. The new Vega 200 is definitely super bright for standard commuting and casts broadly and bright white. The new shape is nice and fits more horizontally compared to the old vertical "tubular style" Vega and is practically the same weight.

My biggest problem with the new design is the mount. The rubber strap is a lot like a belt with holes that hook onto the mount. While it seems a logical evolution to the mount, I've had problems getting it to fit tightly enough. Seems I'm stuck b/w holes. I can't pull it tight enough to get it to mount w/o sliding forward. I have a tapered road handlebar, so the bar doesn't have a uniform diameter (which I think is contributing to my problem). I'm also concerned that this rubber strap will eventually stretch to point of tearing and failure.

I've switched back to my old Vega mount (which thankfully is completely compatible) with the screw tightened mount. This old mount also allows me to remove the light and leave the mount behind.

This is a great light. It's plenty bright for on-road commuting in barely or non lit areas. Holds its charge as advertised. Has 4 convenient settings. I just wish they would have rethought the new mount.
