I picked this jacket up so I could have something for resort, sidecountry, and backcountry trips. OR doesn't really list a waterproof rating on the pertex, but it seems like the information out there has it around the equivalent of 20k. It's been pretty much bombproof in my experience. The only minor complaint I have is that the colors aren't quit as popping as the pictures make them appear and are a bit more dull. I got the yellow off of S&C and it was more of a mustard color than a canary yellow.
Since it is a shell you'll need to layer up if you want to stay warm on super cold days, but I've found it to be plenty big in a L for layering as a 6' 185 male. I've found that the chest vents, rather than pits, are really well placed since it's easy to get them up and down without having to take my pack off. The shoulder, back, and chest lining make it a very comfortable jacket and the integrated Recco Reflector is a nice touch on the off-chance of an inbounds event. Overall, I think it is a very nice alternative to the more expensive Gore Pro shells for someone looking to do day excursions or sidecountry skiing / boarding.
