Great shorts EXCEPT for the front seam

Giordana FormaRed Carbon Flex Bib Shorts

Giordana FormaRed Carbon Flex Bib Shorts

Rating for this product: 1 February 26, 2013

These were super comfortable except for one VERY fatal flaw. For some reason, even compared to other Giordana shorts that I own, the chamois is very short in the front. Plus, the seam on the front middle of the short is more pronounced and stiff than in other shorts I own. This adds up to some serious discomfort for your sensitive parts. I had to return them after one test ride to detect the problem and a second one to confirm that there was no way to avoid it...

Comfy but not so durable

Descente Coldout Bib Short - Men's

Descente Coldout Bib Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 12, 2011

I just got these and have used them twice. They are really comfy to wear and do the trick by keeping my upper legs warm in 40-50 degree weather when I opt for leg warmers rather than tights. BUT they've already started to pill (in the front crotch!) and on the inside legs. So I'm a little torn whether to keep or return them, because I am worried they will wear out very quickly.

Wow

Giordana FormaRed-Carbon Jacket - Men's

Giordana FormaRed-Carbon Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 3, 2010

This jacket is awesome. I went out in 40 degree weather today with this jacket and a medium base layer only (just talking about my torso!) and was perfectly comfortable. It's like magic. Yes, the front is cut way too short when you're standing, but it's perfect while you're riding, becuase there's no bunching/flapping. The styling is very cool, and the zip sleeves and pockets are really handy. As with most Giordana, size the heck up -- I can get away with a L in Pearl Izumi or Descente, and here I got a XXL and it fits great. The price on Bonktown cannot be beat.

Comfy, warm, but not dexterous

Descente Cold Front Glove

Descente Cold Front Glove

Rating for this product: 4 November 3, 2010

These feel great when you put them on -- soft and comfortable. Plus, they did a really good job keeping my hands warm in 40 degree weather (below 35 they will probably need glove liners). But the problem is that this same coziness gives you less dexterity. This is a common problem with winter gloves, but compared to my previous pair of Descente Wombat Gloves, these just felt a bit "squishy." Still, getting them for $10 on bonktown was a steal, and they'll be great gloves on certain days!

Work well for fall cycling

Backcountry.com Merino Trail Sock - 3 Pair

Backcountry.com Merino Trail Sock - 3 Pair

Rating for this product: 4 November 7, 2008

I bought these socks to cycle once the temps dropped and they work well until about 40 degrees, when I use a sock liner or toe warmers. They are very comfortable and fit well (I have a 13 shoe size).
