NIce, but not warm enough

Patagonia Down With It Parka - Women's

Patagonia Down With It Parka - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 November 25, 2011

THis coat is beautifully made, well constructed, lovely touches, but it just isn't warm enough for harsh windy upstate ny winters. The hood is horrible, it lofts on top, not landing...and it leaves so much of your face exposed, particularly the sides. The length is great, to the knees, but the down isn't enough to be warm when it is 30 or below. It is fine for 30-40 degrees. It is 600 fill by the way. I hope the marmot montreaux will be warmer for my wicked winters.

Mountain Hardwear Downtown Down Coat - Women's

This coat is too short in length for my liking, also outer fabric appeared very thin, flimsy. But I returned it, because I would like it to be long to the knees.

This coat gets rave reviews, but it didn't fit right. I am broad in the shoulders, and to fit my arms, chest I needed a large, but it looked like a total tent everywhere else. It visually looked sloppy, including the stitching, went right back.

Canada Goose Mystique Down Parka - Women's

Canada Goose Mystique Down Parka - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 November 25, 2011

This coat is warm. You won't have any problem with the cold with this, but it has some serious faults for the price. First, it is VERY VERY heavy. You feel like you are wearing lead. 2nd, you can't wash it. IT MUST be dry cleaned, and it can only be dry cleaned so many times in its lifetime, otherwise you ruin the protective spray coating. ANd, down needs to be washed now and again, it can pack down, matt with sweat, and you need to refluff it. LAST, the one I had, broke micro holes in the seams of the sleeves, only after a few wears, looked like the material rubbed on the material at my side, and broke down, but after only 4-5 times? ALSO, canada goose as a manufacturer, is out dated, they don't revamp their technology or listen to product defaults, suggestions, like they live in their own world. SO beware, a lot to pay for some serious misgivings.

Nice Coat

Marmot Montreaux Down Coat - Women's

Marmot Montreaux Down Coat - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 November 25, 2011

I think this coat is pretty fabulous, for several reasons....one it is really warm, warmer than my Patagaonia down with it coat, and it has an awesome hood,w hich I need, and it is hard to find...it is deep and cinches down with cinch cord. I also like how long this coat is, reaching to the knees, just like my patagonia down with it coat. I took a large and am a size 8, but I swim and am broad in the shoulders. I think it might run on the small side, but not by much. I think it will be far warmer than my patagonia and I need the hood for my wicked NE winds in upstate ny. It feels light still, but warmer, more down, and it is long, and has a great hood. I love the quality of patagonia, but the coats aren't that warm, and i am shocked how everyone thinks they are, cuz I am hardy, but they don't really cut it. So try it if you need a hood, and warmth. THe steel is alovely color, grey/navy, dark. Ya, I wish marmot wasn't blazed over the chest, but what can one do?

ULU Turin Apres Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 19, 2009

These are lovely boots. They are fully lined with sheepskin all over, including the entire foot. You can wear them without socks, and they are highly water resistant. They have much better foot support than uggs with more water resistance and the warm.

ULU Portillo Winter Boot - Women's

ULU Portillo Winter Boot - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 January 9, 2009

These boots are very warm. They are stuff with very thick shearling. I always have cold feet and I can wear these boots in 20 degree, 15 weather without socks and I never feel cold. The sole, I feel gives your foot much more support than an UGG, but it is clunky and heavyish. Not bad though. YOu can wear these boots in the snow and they will repel snow for awhile, then they get wet, but miraculously your feet still don't get wet. But I've been told, hence, you just spray them and then they don't even get wet. Spray them before they ever get wet and they will not stain. You can spray them with UGG spray or any spray for suede. Overall, I think they are very nice. Great warmth and more foot support. Also wide for toes, as I have bunions.
