Ahhh...comfort.

Capo Peloton Bib Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 31, 2011

After two years of wearing bargain bibshorts, I finally decided to splurge with these babies. Oh god, why didn't I do this sooner? They're the most comfortable things I've ever put on my legs. Well, except maybe satin-lined dress pants, but whatever.

Point is, they're PERFECT. Snug on the legs, comfortable but not too tight on the shoulders. Oh, and the fabric really does feel like silk. It's amazing. I was a little iffy about the sizing since I'm stupid skinny and even smalls are sometimes baggy, but the medium is perfect on my 78cm waist and 56cm thighs. (I'm 6'1, 160lbs)

At first feel, the chamois seemed rock-hard, but then it warmed up and mushed right into place...amazing. Simply wonderful. I did a century my first day owning these, and barely even felt it in the butt afterwards.

Bottom (hehe) line: will not disappoint.

Final note, and selling point: they're cut low enough and stretchy enough in the front to take a leak without undressing. Huzzah!

Race Face Aquanot WPB Bike Pant - Men's

Love em. I'm a courier, and the "rain pants" that I had bought when i was just commuting were turning out to be wind pants with the name changed. So I splurged on these, and I gotta say, I love em. The reflective piping is a great feature, especially on dark stormy days, and they're definitely waterproof enough for me. I do feel a little moist after a long day in the saddle, but from the rankness, I'm pretty sure that's just sweat and that these aren't breathable. However, if the storm lets up, open fly on the zippers. the two-way zippers are perfect for venting, but they won't turn you into a parachute.

They're also pretty durable. I've wrecked numerous times and only ripped them once, which was decently easy to patch with gorrilla glue and a cut-up piece of an old raincoat.

Mavic Mavic M10 Cassette W/M10 Chain

Mavic Mavic M10 Cassette W/M10 Chain

Rating for this product: 4 June 11, 2010

If you need a cassette that you can swap between bikes at a moment's notice, or just something that you can carry over upgrades this is the one. It works with Shimano, Campy, SRAM, and one of my friends even tried it with an '80s Suntour Superbe setup. It's not just for 10 or 9 speed either - I set it up on a 1x7 Surly Crosscheck and it worked like a dream. The spacing took a little tweaking, (I suggest getting a bag of some random spares) but it indexed perfectly after a few tries.

Why not five stars? It won't go on my Campy Shamal hub.

Arc'teryx Venta SV Softshell Jacket - Men's

December 26, 2009

It fits...but a little tight. It's hard to turn your head if you've got a big racing helmet like a Carrera, but littler hardhat helmets should work just fine under the hood. However, the collar goes pretty high and I found it mostly unnecessary unless there's precipitation.

Arc'teryx Venta SV Softshell Jacket - Men's

December 26, 2009

Regarding number two and three, the candy apple red is significantly less retina-burning than the Arc'Teryx stock photo makes it out to be. And three, yes, the new windstopper is significantly thicker (my dad had one of the original paper-thin ones...). I went through numerous glades and took a few nasty spills onto low-lying plants with not even a sign of a scratch.

Arc'teryx Venta SV Softshell Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Venta SV Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 26, 2009

Excellent jacket. Got it on S&C for 60% off, but I would've happily paid full price for the performance it gave. Taken it skiing in the Maine backcountry three times now...first time, 30 degrees and sunny. this and a merino base layer was cool and comfy for hiking past where the lifts shut off, and appropriately cut wind on the way down. Second time, 20's and windy, and then third time, single digits and snowing/freezing drizzle/sleet/sh*t weather. I paired it with a nice cushy down layer, and stayed warm and dry both days. The sleet day, I came in off the mountain pretty much encrusted in ice, and was still nice and toasty, and the water beaded right off, dry on the inside. People say it leaks under the arms...well, yeah, if you hold your arms up. the underarm zippers are taped, but they don't have a flap like the front one. But I didn't notice a single problem unless I held my arms straight up in the wind. So I guess for climbing it might be rough? But then again it wouldn't be too hard to mod it to have a flap on the pit zips if they really bother you. My bottom line: Well worth the money, a must have if you want to stay dry and warm for life.

Pearl Izumi Optik Jacket - Men's

Pearl Izumi Optik Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

Thin, light, and surprisingly warm. Blocks wind and water better than most trash bags. It has absolutely NO insulation, and weighs next to nothing, but it's quite comfortable on 40-degree days with just a cycing jersey and some arm warmers on. The only thing I wish it had is a hood...or thumb holes. And as a bonus, it's quite shiny and spiffy for just wearing around.

Love em. Got them yesterday, took them on a ride early morning today in 40-degree weather...had to take off my jacket because it was too hot. I see myself wearing these allll through the winter, even when I'm not biking. Great base layer - you don't even notice them after a couple miles. One note though: If your 'ceps are jacked, you might want to size up, lest the top cuff cut off your blood flow.

Black Diamond Momentum AL Harness Package

Black Diamond Momentum AL Harness Package

Rating for this product: 5 November 21, 2008

Perfect set for anyone who's just gotten into climbing. Like Devil8ball said, the chalk bag could use a clip, but that's a pretty minor fix, I just lashed it to the back of the harness with the cord that came with it. Literally everything you need to get climbing in a gym or tag along with a group outing; Harness, Chalk, Biner, ATC, the only thing I might add on was a second carabiner or a quickdraw.
