Backpack straps ripping during luggage handling?

So far, love this bag. I am flying with it for the first time at the end of this week. I am considering puling the backpack straps off and throwing them inside when checking the bag. Is this overkill? I am used to traveling with a technical backpack with straps hanging everywhere. I always put my packs inside a cheap duffel to protect them since straps always get torn otherwise.

Have you ever had any problems with the straps on this bag (medium) getting ripped during baggage loading/unloading?
