Great Jacket

Giordana Silverline Jacket - Men's

Giordana Silverline Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 14, 2012

I have an older version of this jacket and I love it. Good fit, nice coverage on the neck, and nice and snug at the cuffs. Windproofing is top notch, with good ventilation elsewhere so you don't overheat. I can wear this down in the lower 30's with just a sleeveless base layer underneath and I'm plenty warm for my hour-long commute. Recommended.

Can't decide if it's race cut or club cut.

Castelli Podium Collection Mortirolo Jersey - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Castelli Podium Collection Mortirolo Jersey - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 August 23, 2011

This showed up at my doorstep yesterday. It's going back in the post today. I'm 5'5", @125lbs, so I ordered the small. Jersey seems well constructed, although the zipper was a little finicky. Torso was nice and snug, cut of the sleeves felt good when in a riding position. Very much what I'd consider race cut. But the cuffs? The cuffs at the ends of the sleeves were loose. Flappy. Like a club cut jersey. Not like any other Castelli jerseys I own (this was the first of the Podium series that I tried). Or any other race cut jerseys I own. Come on people, I'm a cyclist. I have skinny arms.

Cutter Cosine Jacket - Men's

August 17, 2011

Why oh why do you guys refuse to put any reflectivity on Cutter rain gear? When it's raining, chances are it's a little darker outside, so any extra visibility helps, you know? I have the Cyclical jacket and it's the same way. A dark brown jacket with no reflectivity. What gives?

Silca Steel Floor Pump w/Gauge

Silca Steel Floor Pump w/Gauge

Rating for this product: 2 May 2, 2011

It's a pump, and if you get it on Bonktown, it's pretty inexpensive. I'm not sure how well it's going to hold up, and it really does take quite a bit of effort to get a 120psi tire inflated.

You're better off spending good money on a good pump, but if you're really low on cash, this'll do the job.

Rocky Mountain Solo Team CXR Bike

There are eyelets for fenders at the bottom of the seat stays near the rear drivetrain, so I wouldn't think you should have any trouble mounting fenders. If you wanted to put a rack on there, you'd need to make sure that you had adapters for the lack of eyelets at the top of the seat stays.

Louis Garneau Krocknicker - Men's

Louis Garneau Krocknicker - Men's

Rating for this product: 3 February 14, 2011

I'm giving these three stars, because they're very well made. Having said that, the sizing for these things is awful. At least for me. I'm 5'5", 125, so I ordered them in a Small. When they arrived and I put them on, I was pretty disappointed. The hemline is just a little bit above my ankle. For a knicker, I'd expect these to go no lower than upper-to-mid-calf, but these things are way too long for me. By comparison, the Cutter Tech Knickers in Small are the perfect length for me. Maybe these are just designed for tall, skinny people. Again, they're really well made. I have the LG Durango MTB shorts (picked up from Chainlove), and these are very similar. Same material, same chamois, same fly and everything. I was really hoping for the utility of the pockets that came with these, plus they look really nice. They're just too long. I have to send them back.

Stella Azzurra Profi Alloy Handlebar

January 12, 2011

I was just thinking that you ought to update the Tech Specs on this to show the Diameter as 26.0mm instead of 31.8mm. I know the size chooser says it, but it's still confusing, and 26.0mm stems aren't as easy to find these days.

Blue Competition Cycles CX6.5 Cross Bike

Rating for this product: 5 November 24, 2010

I can't believe more people aren't buying/reviewing these bikes, especially at the Bonktown prices. I picked one of these up last month, and after having my LBS help me get the cantis set up correctly, have been taking it out every weekend for cyclocross races. This is a great bike. Comes with a pretty nice stock wheelset, good components (for the money), and a very nice weight. Only thing I had to swap was the crankset. I wanted 'cross gearing on there, so I put a different Gossamer on there with 46/36. Oh, and 'cross brake levers. For the Bonktown price, I don't see how you can beat this.

Descente Dimension Stretch Shoe Cover

November 3, 2010

I also wear 8.5 (I get euro 41 in cycling shoes; not necessarily a direct conversion, I guess), and I have these in S/M. It takes FOREVER to get the stupid things on my shoes because they're so tight. As other reviewers have stated, once on they're pretty warm, but I guess what I'm trying to say is that you might want to go with the L/XL.

Very well-designed pack.

Vaude Hyper Air 14+3 Pack

Vaude Hyper Air 14+3 Pack

Rating for this product: 5 October 14, 2010

Got this on Chainlove a few weeks ago, and I've been using it for the daily commute the past couple weeks.

NOTE: I ordered the Green pack, and it came with the rain cover AND a hydration reservoir.

I had read a really positive review of this on MTBR, so when I saw it here, I went for it. Glad I did. The FLASH strap system is really great, the expandability is awesome, and the rain cover has already been put to work (with great success). I also really like the way the frame keeps the pack away from your back.

I will agree with the MTBR reviewer in that there isn't a whole lot you can do in terms of organizing things in the main compartment. It's just a big empty space. That works fine for me though, because I've mainly been using this for commuting, so I just throw my clothes for the day in the main compartment. The front pocket is nicely divided so you can put tools, some snacks, etc...

Bottom line: Highly recommended, especially if you can get it on Chainlove.

Guppy Lights

Serfas HL-G & TL-G Guppy Light Combo

Rating for this product: 1 May 25, 2010

I was not impressed with these lights. They don't look to be the least bit weatherproof - no gasket in the battery compartment. Speaking of the battery compartment, when I did get the lid off, I had trouble getting it seated just right. Sent them back. I'd rather spend a little more for some knogs.

Great Shorts!

Sugoi Gustov Short - Men's

Sugoi Gustov Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 29, 2008

Finally got a chance to wear these today, and I'm really happy that I bought them. The liner is extremely comfortable, and the fit there is great. The shell was actually fairly loose (I ordered a small), but thanks to the little pull tabs on the sides, I was able to make it as snug as I needed it to be.

Although I didn't need most of them, these shorts boast a stunning array of pockets. You should be able to carry everything you need. I liked the small pocket on the lower right leg for carrying my ID and some cash. I also really like the vent zips on the front. They got some use today, too.

Anyway, after riding 55 miles, I was just as comfortable when I finished as I was when I started. And that's really the most important thing to know.

Sugoi Gustov Short - Men's

Not really a question, but you might want to change the details for these shorts. I bought these (on Chainlove), I love them, but the liner isn't removable. You can actually tell that it's sewn in from one of the photos above.

Sugoi Hans 1/2-Zip Jersey - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Sugoi Hans 1/2-Zip Jersey - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 November 21, 2008

This is a really great looking jersey, and the quality seems to be there, but the sizing is just all off.

I bought this in a small, and I was swimming in it. I had to send it back. Small in almost everything else fits me fine.

If I saw this in XS, I'd probably try it again. Like I said, I liked it, it was just too huge to actually wear.
