Suunto Core Altimeter Watch

March 6, 2011

On top of doing alot of backcountry skiing and mountaineering i do ski patrol. I need a watch that has a seconds indicator for taking vitals without having to switch watch functions and pressing buttons on it. does this watch have a second counter on its main time display?

Burly waterproof pants!

Berghaus Couloir Pant - Men's

Berghaus Couloir Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 1, 2011

I love these pants. I have skiied approximately 20 days on them so far this season, and they still provide bomber waterproof protection for here in the northwest! I have skied in anything from 45 degree slushy days to a blizzard just nuking snow and lower, rain and have been perfectly dry in these. if you start to get too hot, open up the sides a bit and dump your excess heat. Something that would have been nice for these pants would have been some belt loops, but i guess they figures suspenders were enough. it you just be nice to be able to hold the waist together while you unzip the sides.

Just a note on fit: They are a "technical" fit. They are pretty tight throughout the pant but they stretch/ move around nicely and dont get in the way of doing anything . The inseam is also quite high for me. I 6'2" 220 lbs and i like the fit of the large. Still gets 5 starts from me!

Dynafit Titan TF-X Ski Boot - Men's

January 19, 2011

Keep you alpine setup, but get some alpine trekker adaptors so you can still do limited touring. if you are only doing 20% touring it is not worth it to buy a $2,000 full AT setup unless you have some serious coin just laying around collecting dust. Thats just my 2 cents

K2 Coomback Ski

November 2, 2010

i would go with the 174 cm version. I currently own the 181's with dynafit tlt z12's mounted on them and i am 6'2" and 220 lbs. This setup is perfect for me, so i think you should go with the shorter version since you ar 70 lbs lighter and a couple inches shorter... those are just my thoughts.

sorry, that is not the crampon i use with this boot, i use the BD contact strap crampon with these boots. on more serious climbs i use the sabertooth with a true mountaineering boot.

yeah, go with strap on crampons. I really like this boot paired with the Black Diamond Sabertooth pro crampon. stiff enough for waterfall ice, but comfortable enough for 20 hour high altitude mountaineering climbs.

Lange Banshee Pro Ski Boot - Men's

Lange Banshee Pro Ski Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 4, 2010

I absolutely love this boot. I am 6'1" 205lbs and i get a great response from this boot. It is stiff and it kills it in the steeps and on anything from boilerplate ice to bottomless powder. the only problem i have had with this boot is stuff falling off. The canting adjustment fell of as well as the buckle, so make sure you tighten everything down before you go rip it up. Also when i was trying to get replacement parts from lange, i could not get in contact with them and had to buy parts from my boot fitter. overall great preforming boot.

DAKINE Pro 2 Backpack - 1600cu in

February 19, 2010

Will the BD deploy 3 shovel fit in this pack's shovel carry pocket? Also is it comfortable to carry skis on this pack when bootpacking? i have used other packs and the skis make me off balance and messes up my back. will that happen with this pack?

sick skis best run of my life

Rossignol S7 Barras Ski

Rossignol S7 Barras Ski

Rating for this product: 5 January 5, 2010

So i bought these skis and loved skiing them on the groomers and hardpack because they actually carve. we had our first real powder day at Alpental at snoqualmie on 12/30/09 and i got my 188's out in the deep stuff on shot 6 in the trees. it was quite possibly the best run of my life. it was only about 7" but these skis made the snow feel bottomless. I might return them and go with the super 7's because i am 6'1" 207 and this regular s7 seems a bit nervous on the groomers. i mounted at +3.
