Weird fit

Spy Zed Goggles w/Free Extra Lens

Spy Zed Goggles w/Free Extra Lens

Rating for this product: 3 February 23, 2010

The lenses are great and the design is awesome. My biggest problem with these was fit. They're definitely for a small/narrow face. Also these tend to fog up easily. I ended up switching to Oakleys because of fit but the Spys have superior lenses and feel like they are of better quality.

Awesome hat

Mountain Hardwear Dome Perignon Beanie

Mountain Hardwear Dome Perignon Beanie

Rating for this product: 4 February 23, 2010

I've gone through several beanies ranging from the generic wool to light fleece. This one kept me warm while snowboarding in 20 degree weather while completely blocking the wind. Only issue I may have with it is the pointy top which makes you look like a garden gnome.

The medium was bigger than I expected and definitely gave me extra room to bring back souvenirs. The compression straps are definitely the best feature on this bag!

Eagle Creek Pack-It Shoe Sac

I'm not sure why this bag is getting bad reviews. I took it climbing Mt Kilimanjaro and it was definitely handy for putting away my dirty hiking boots in my bag. It was the perfect size for my shoes and was much better than the alternative, a shopping plastic bag.

Great alternative to trail mix

Clifbar Mojo Bar - 12 Pack

Clifbar Mojo Bar - 12 Pack

I usually don't like to fumble around in a bag of trail mix when I'm hiking so this was a great alternative. I took these on my climb of Mt Kilimanjaro and they definitely hit the spot for a quick snack. The extra salt is a nice touch.

I took this on a long climb and it worked beautifully. Definitely got the sweat off my skin so I wouldn't freeze in 15 degree weather!

Wore these on summit night of Mt Kilimanjaro over some Burton thermals and under a light shell. Worked beautifully at 15 degrees and was very light.

Almost great

The North Face Varius Guide Jacket - Men's

The North Face Varius Guide Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 17, 2008

This is my first real shell and it worked just fine while mountain climbing. I wore this around the camp, on the climb with and without a zip-in fleece and in the rain. The only complaint I have is the hood as the buttons tend to pop off when you try to pull on the hood to cover your head.

The North Face Khumbu Fleece Jacket - Men's

I bought this to zip into TNF Varius shell. Worked perfect on summit night on Kili. I'm only giving it 4 stars because it is a bit heavy but other than that a great fleece.

Super soft and comfy, feels like you've already worn them Day 1. Wore these on my Kili climb and ate it on my way down. The pants held up without a scratch.

Columbia Top-O-Graphic Half Zip Pullover - Men's

Columbia Top-O-Graphic Half Zip Pullover - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 17, 2008

Very comfortable and breathable, I wore these over my base layer on summit night and bye bye sweat! Only complaint is that this shirt is not very durable as the waffer-like material gets caught easily when putting on backpacks and files away. I've had this shirt for a month and I can already see lots of torn spots.

Mountain Hardwear Wicked Tech T-Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Wicked Tech T-Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 2 October 17, 2008

I bought several shirts of different brands for my Kili climb. This shirt was the worst as it snagged on everything. I've only worn it twice and I doubt it will withstand a third wear. My backpack kept on snagging the fabric. Save your money and get something nicer like the Sugoi, Marmmot or even Carhartt long sleeves.

I bought several other shirts to test out on my multi-day climb. This was the best shirt of the bunch as it fit very well, was very comfortable and was durable enough.

Good but not great

Mountain Hardwear Extend Featherweight Boxer - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Extend Featherweight Boxer - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 17, 2008

Pros: lightweight, great material
Cons: fly stays open, tends to bunch up
I bought this for my Kili climb along with the Ex-Officio and Under Armour equivalents. This one was the most comfortable but did not support/fit very well.

ExOfficio Give-N-Go Boxer Brief - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 17, 2008

I compared these to the Mountain Hardwear equivalent. The fit and support is better with these but the material is not as comfortable as Mountain Hardwear's. Also the waistband is a bit uncomfortable.
