Stoic Bombshell Insulated Jacket - Men's

Stoic Bombshell Insulated Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 21, 2011

6' and 195lb and the XL fits perfectly. Very similar to the old welder insulated in fit and feel. The yellow is a mustard color and really cool. Thick enough that I can use it alone and thin enough that I can layer under. The ONLY thing that concerns me is that the wrist cuffs limit the number of choices I have for layering-would need to be a size L or really thin cuff. Other than that, I'm selling my Arc'teryx Scorpion jacket now that I have this--for a waterproof jacket, this is very soft and light compared to the heavy rubbery feel of the Arc'teryx. This is my second Stoic jacket and I have had great experiences with the brand. This feels true to size.

Mammut Stratus Hooded Jacket - Men's

Mammut Stratus Hooded Jacket - Men's

I got this jacket as a replacement for the Marmot Trient- I returned four with bad zippers. I don't see any info about water proof or shedding capability on the site or on the tags that came on it-I'll assume it's not. I LOVE the fit: 6ft 195lb and 45in chest, XL is perfect. Like a cozy sleeping bag. This feels like the Trient, but the zipper works perfectly on this jacket. The black is a much better color choice than the Trient and similar insulated layer jackets because it is not shiny. The hood has the right adjustments with a subtle brim. It looks like ripstop, but I have not experienced the material strength yet. I prefer velcro cuffs, but it has the lycra with thumb loops. The arms are plenty long (without being super long like Stoic) and the lycra is not too tight.
This is a bit thicker and feels stronger than the Cloudveil Enclosure. It is more form fitting than the enclosure. For me the enclosure L is too short, but the XL is too loose and long in the mid section.
I'll buy another Mammut!

Cloudveil Enclosure Hooded Insulated Jacket - Men's

The sleeve cuff does not have velcro, so it may be a bit loose. Also, I have found that the sleeve is a bit shorter than some others--stoic for example.

Sierra Designs BTU ECO Jacket - Men's

This is well build, feels true to size, and materials are awesome. 6' and 185, the large is perfect. I've had to move into XL in many other brands. Right out of the box I knew-- tough outside and super soft, slippery quilting inside. I used this for skiing in MI at 25F and it was a bit warm. At 10F it was great, and at 0F it was perfect. I love the full-time hood, the arms are long enough that they don't ride up, and the red is a cool, unusual color. I since bought two other SD coats and LOVE them. They are built as strong as Cloudveil and Patagonia in my experience but don't seem to be as skinny in the chest.

I have three pairs of Keens, so I thought I knew what to order. Looked cool, but squeezed my foot. I would go up AT LEAST a full size. I think they would be comfortable if sized correct. May be a bit wide at the top.
