I got these a year ago, which I took them snowboarding, snowmobiling, and ice climbing. Which they kept me more warm. I never needed to wear any layers under them, even when ice climbing in a dark canyon where the temps were below 0. Also the lining is pretty good, it is very minimal, so it keeps the pants light and some what flexible. I would probably not wear these for any mountaineering, because I could not imagine walking miles in these, they are not flexible enough. I would probably find something a light less tight and a bit more flexible in the knees.

Great for beginning belayers.

Petzl Grigri Belay Device

I bought one of these primarily for taking new climbers out climbing, that I did not fully trust on a tube device. Which I started using it for top rope soloing and occasional easy solo lead belay (Do not recommend, may not lock off in a fall past 5 feet.) But I have to say this thing is heavy, it is about the same weight of a BD #3 cam. I would rather have the cam over this on the rack, I can take two tube devices and still have less wieght on my harness, then if I took this. Also, it only has the capability of one rope, so if you plan to do a double rope rappel, bring another device for the rappel. If Petzl makes a similiar device for two ropes and a bit lighter, then it may be a better bet of being on my harness all the time. But as of now, it is in my guiding rack.

Not a bad board

Burton T6 Snowboard

I got this board last season in april, which I was only able to get out once before the snow was gone. But I was really surprised to see how well the edge grips rock solid ice and how comfortable the ride is. I have to say it is one of the best boards I have ridden, up with the Never Summer Titan, to me the only difference between the those two boards, is that T6 is lighter. Cant wait to get this board in the powder this year.
