Very slick action, and the ridges on the gate of the straight version actually help with the grip! The 'biner is noticeably heavier than most others, though...

Fantastic Bag!

Mountain Hardwear Lamina 0 Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Synthetic

Mountain Hardwear Lamina 0 Sleeping Bag: 0 Degree Synthetic

Rating for this product: 5 January 3, 2010

I took this bag on a winter climbing trip and was comfortable in temperatures down to 25 degrees at night. I'm a cold sleeper, so I was impressed by the warmth of the thermic micro! I was also impressed by the water-resistant treatment on the bag, since it kept beads of condensation from soaking through during the night. Just like others have said, it is very difficult to get the "long" bag into the stuff sack, but that's a testament to the loft of the insulation.

It's a synthetic!

Marmot Trestles 30 Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree Synthetic

Marmot Trestles 30 Sleeping Bag: 30 Degree Synthetic

Rating for this product: 4 November 17, 2009

When Marmot says thirty degrees, Marmot means thirty degrees. I've taken this bag on summer, fall, and winter trips, to West Virginia, Arkansas, Maryland, and Kentucky, and any temperatures below thirty-five degrees require a warmer bag! For summer and fall trips, though, the Trestles 30 will keep you warm and dry even in damp conditions. After collecting water from the wall of my tent all night on a backpacking trip, the foot of my bag was completely soaked on the outside, but remained bone dry inside. The bag is a little bulky when rolled, but still fits in the sleeping bag compartment of my pack.

Old Faithful!

Mad Rock Flash Climbing Shoe - Men's- 2009 DO NOT USE

Mad Rock Flash Climbing Shoe - Men's- 2009 DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 November 17, 2009

I've had these shoes for almost three years, so I've had some time to study them pretty well! I have a medium-wide foot, and the shape of the Flash fits me perfectly in the same size as street shoes (big toe lies almost flat pushed against the end of the shoe, and the rest of my toes are slightly curled). The rubber and glue have been very durable, and I use the shoes for both gym and outdoor climbing. The velcro has also held up very well and still grips tightly. The only noticeable flaw in the shoes is the shape of the heel. The air gap at the back of the shoe makes any heel work very difficult, as there is no sensitivity and the shoe feels like it could slip off.

Quality Construction

Patagonia Footwear Boaris Shoe - Men's

Patagonia Footwear Boaris Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 17, 2009

Clean detailing on these shoes and high-quality textures make them great for casual wear. The heel rises a little higher on the ankle than most casual shoes, but doesn't detract from the looks. Don't plan on wearing them for athletic purposes, since there is no arch support, but the soles are quality rubber and the perforated leather actually breathes well! The toebox is average width, and the sizing is pretty accurate.
