Patagonia Midweight Ski Sock

Rating for this product: 4 February 11, 2010

Kept my feet perfectly warm in early january (cold low 20's - low teens), snowboarding in Breckenridge. I usded the ski sock liner by patagonia as well and had burton boots on. Only on day three did i notice and discomfort in my shins. Are going to be my go to pair for colder temps.

Worth Every Penny!

Patagonia Merino 3 Bottom - Men's

Patagonia Merino 3 Bottom - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 11, 2010

Love these things. Got them for Boarding in Breckenridge. It was January and really cold (low teens to mid twenties with strong winds and snow), but these things kept me really warm. After three full days they still did not smell at all. They fit wonderfully, not too tight, nor to loose, and feel like cotton not wool, no itch! I plan on using them when ever i go cold weather backpacking/camping as well.

Love it!

Patagonia Talus Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 11, 2010

Got it at the Patagonia Store in Breckenridge. I hope to use it during any cold weather camping, but it worked great up on the mountain. I wore it the last day snowboarding, it was in the mid teens to low twenties with a pretty strong, cold wind, along with Patagonia Merino Wool 1 and 3 base-layers and was comfortable on the lift, and had to unzip a bit on the way down. Cuts the wind well. I normally wear mediums in my clothing, however I did go with a Large in this one. There is no snow skirt, so i did fall once and get snow up my back.

Worked Great!

Ashbury Eyewear Kaleidescope Solid Goggle

Rating for this product: 4 February 11, 2010

I got this for Christmas and used it the first week in January at Breckenridge and they were just about perfect. Really comfortable, never fogged up, and even on the second day, with the better part of 8" of snow falling, I saw wonderfully. Even in the lower light on that day I never felt compelled to switch to the additional yellow lense that they come with. It was my first goggle purchase, however I liked them much more than the cheaper scott's I'd always borrowed from friends in the past. In addition they worked perfectly with my Beori Helmet. One note, the inside of the strap is not lined with rubber like some, so If you had a smooth helmet with no strap on the back to hold them in place, it might be annoying.

The features rock, well see how they perform

Burton Gore-Tex Mitten - Men's

Burton Gore-Tex Mitten - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 December 10, 2009

Picked them up today just because I couldn't pass up all the features for the price. In addition to the removable liner, which has rubber griper's all over, and the Gore-Tex, they have a strip of some kind of soft material on the left mitt for wiping your goggles clear. Also both thumbs are coated on the upper side with similar material to save your nose (for wiping). Furthermore the backsides unzip for heat packs. Lastly the cinch closure around the wrists is truly innovative and seems to work really well. Its been about 10-15 degrees outside to day where I live and they kept my hands warm while I cleaned out my car. My only complaint is that I wish they came up a bit farther on my arm. I'll update after I take them to Colorado in a month.

Beal Edlinger II 10.2mm Rope DO NOT USE

Five Ten Anasazi VCS Climbing Shoe - 2012 Model

October 9, 2008

I've been climbing regularly in a climbing gym for 3 or 4 months now and I've been using Sportiva's mantis shoes, however I've noticed that I have a hard time staying on jibs and even more trouble trying to toe hook when I'm on overhangs. I'm trying to decide between these, the galileo, or the mocassyms which I see a lot of at the gym (or even another really good shoe). As i live in Indiana I won't be doing much outdoors climbing, but maybe some bouldering. Any sugestions?

Arc'teryx C40 Chalk Bag

Arc'teryx C40 Chalk Bag

Rating for this product: 3 September 16, 2008

Its ok. Its nothing special. It would be nice if the bouldering strap was more easy to remove. Its a nice but small size Chalk bag. The opening seems to not want to close as well as I'd prefer and sometimes chalk puffs out.

Metolius Super Chalk

Metolius Super Chalk

Rating for this product: 3 September 16, 2008

I like the blocks of Metolius climbing chalk better I think. It's easy to use too much of this stuff at once, it looks like it wears off quickly, but it actually does keep you dry.

The North Face Hang On T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 1, 2008

I LOVE this t-shirt. It is some of the best, softest, and most comfortable cotton I've ever worn. In addition the cut is perfectly fitted. Normally I buy smalls so they're fitted around my torso, but then have the problem of the sleeves being a bit short. However with this shirt I had no such problem!

A good buy!

Jetboil Group Cooking System with 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot

Jetboil Group Cooking System with 1.5 Liter Cooking Pot

Rating for this product: 4 September 1, 2008

I used one of these for a 4 night trip in the Smokey Mountains in February and it worked wonderfully. I liked it a lot especially compared to the MSR wisperlite we always used to use. Its super light weight, compact, and was perfect for two people. It is much easier to set up and start than a whisper lite. It got below freezing temp, depending on where we were and always at night, but this gave it no problems and heated water very quickly. The only cons I saw were that the plastic lid warped, probably due to the heat, and thus no longer fit the top of the pan correctly and that it would probably not work for big groups. Three people, maybe four, would be the max for one of these, and plan on doing several rounds of cooking. One fuel cannister plus a back up would be more than enough for five day trip.

Great first pair

La Sportiva Mantis Climbing Shoe

La Sportiva Mantis Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 3 August 30, 2008

These are the first rock climbing shoes I've ever purchased and have thus far been great! I've been climbing in them two to four times a week at a climbing gym for a couple weeks now and I have no real complaints about this pair. They seem to grip well, even on very tiny footholds. I gave them three stars only because I have little experience with other shoes to reference them with. I bought an 11.5 (US) which is generally the same as my street shoe size and they seem to be working well. I MIGHT go a 1/2 size smaller as they may stretch and the heel might be a bit big, but as is they are comfortable enough that I don't bother taking them on and off in the gym.

Outdoor Research Helium Compression Sacks

Rating for this product: 5 March 28, 2008

This stuff sack is amazing. I used it on my last week-long trip to put my 0 degree sleeping bag in. I used the 7 x 19 one. It was a tight squeeze and I worried it might rip as I compressed it, but it definitely held up well. By the end of the trip I was compressing it even more.

Marmot Impulse Jacket - Men's

Marmot Impulse Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 28, 2008

Amazing buy. I used it during a week in the Smokey Mountains. It fits great and I was able to wear it over a Columbia fleece. It was below 32 degrees at night and it definitely kept me warm and dry. I've even worn it around campus walking to class in the rain. It's been comfortable up to about 50 degrees, then I started getting a bit warm and needed to use the vents. So far so good!

Patagonia Lightweight Hiking Crew Sock

Patagonia Lightweight Hiking Crew Sock

Rating for this product: 4 March 28, 2008

I used these during a week in the Smokey Mountains in combination with the Patagonia Lightweight Hiking Crew Liner Socks. I thought they were better than the smart wool i usually use, even more comfortable. The only problem I had with them was they weren't quite warm enough at night as it got below freezing.
