Volkl Katana Alpine Ski

Volkl Katana Alpine Ski

Rating for this product: 5 February 25, 2011

My first day on the Katana's was 3' at Steamboat. Exactly what these sticks were made for. So fun. I grew up on skinny skis and I think that's where they aimed these. There's crazier, reverse camberier skis out there. But for those who want a killer powder ski that kinda bridges the gap between the new and old school, and is just all around fun this big, flat planker is money. Will also carve hardpack if absolutely neccesary. I mounted mine at manufacturer's point and haven't regretted it, lean forward and watch the tips rise!

Serfas Traditional Style Fender

Serfas Traditional Style Fender

Rating for this product: 3 February 25, 2011

These aren't bad fenders. I'll bet they fit 90 percent of bikes fine. Just not mine. They interfere with the V-brakes on my old Jamis MTB. I'm rockin' 2" Serfas Drifter on it, and the clearance is slim. Guess I'll put some skinniers on it.

Crank Brothers Acid 1 Pedal

Crank Brothers Acid 1 Pedal

Rating for this product: 4 March 29, 2010

The Acid 1's came OEM on my '07 Marin. I would say they are easier to clip in/out than my old Time ATAC pedals, shed mud much better and keep me clipped in better. Some might not like their lack of a tension adjustment. But I haven't had a problem. The first season I used them they developed a funny squeaking noise, which eventually went away. They're also rebuildable, which is nice if you're actually shelling out a cool hundred for retail price. Overall a solid pedal, and not a bad value.

Six Six One Raji Mountain Bike Glove

Six Six One Raji Mountain Bike Glove

Rating for this product: 5 March 28, 2010

Got a couple of pairs of the new style off of Chainlove. My first pair lasted about 2.5 years. Super comfy minimalist construction. They use the same material as Mechanix gloves for the palm, great dexterity. Some people don't seem to like the elastic wristband, but I disagree, you don't have to worry about these gloves shredding your jersey's in the washer like models using velcro. Doesn't really offer any padding, but I use these on a 6" AM bike, so not an issue. Only problem is that the rubber on the index finger comes off very quickly. Overall my all time favorite bike glove.

Volkl Katana Alpine Ski

April 10, 2009

have seen a few knee droppers riding these. I've got em mounted with Dukes and went with the standard boot center marked at the factory. Skiied 3 ft at steamboat two weeks ago and was blown away. never came close to hitting bottom. Levitation homes. But anyway, The mount point does put the boots way towards the tail, but I think that's the point. Get those tips floating above and drop the channel tail. I know I had no problems with tip dive like my scratch BC's which haave supermanned me in pow on a number of occasions.
