Coal V-Neck Gaiter

Coal V-Neck Gaiter

Rating for this product: 2 September 7, 2010

Similar to the other reviewer I found that this thing was great until I started flying down the hill and wanted to breathe through it. Its a thick fleece fabric which is soft and warm but not breathable. Its perfect for the lift ride up and keeps your neck and face nice and warm, but when you start breathing hard on the way down I have to take it off my face defeating the purpose.

The circumference of the whole thing is small for my face so it is tight around my nose and mouth. If it was a bit bigger maybe I would have enough room to breathe even with the thickness (like a bandanna fits), but since its so tight, no dice. Although you can't breathe through it it still works for neck warmth if thats what you are looking for...

Classic Goodness from Nixon

Nixon Scout Watch - Men's

Nixon Scout Watch - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 November 13, 2009

As mentioned by Steezzzy-E, I love this watch. Its just a great classic bullitproof watch. I always get compliments from the ladies on my blue plaid one. One great thing about this watch over some of the other Nixon's (I own several) is that you can actually tell the time with the scout. The band starts out a bit scratchy and stiff, but lasts forever. It breaks right in and you will never take it off unless you are replacing it with your Player or Rotolog. Thanks for the sizing pics Steezzzy-E

Basically, that means that this watch is waterproof. If you ever have a reason to verify the 100m (328.08399 feet) rating, you have much bigger problems than what time it is bro - like getting out of the handcuffs and removing the anvil attached to your feet.

Roxy Silhouette Snowboard - Women's

October 30, 2009

Although I agree with Andy on his review of BTX, this board is nothing like the Lib Skate Banana. I do not know what Andy is talking about. The Roxy is not reverse camber (HUGE DIFFERENCE), the flexs are totally different, and the Roxy does not have Magne Traction. I own a Lib Sk8 Nana and my lady has this Roxy - so believe me on this one - they are not similar.
To answer your question though - this is a decent board for a beginner/intermediate rider. It is not gonna make your turns for you, but a pretty good value overall. If you plan on keeping it for a few seasons, it is built to last as well. You also cant beat the price it is at 40% off. No matter what you decide to get though, get it at Dogfunk. Everything about their service is top notch, and dont forget to check out their kickin return policy.

Nixon Vega Watch - Women's

October 30, 2009

I measured the circumfrence of my lady's watch to answer another question on the SS model, and at its smallest size (all links together as shown in the picture) it is 8.5 inches around the exterior. That puts it just a tad under that on the interior. You cannot take out any links either as far as I can tell.

I got these for my lady and she LOVES them! She says that they are the most comfortable shoes she has ever owned. The color waves are almost all awesome and she says that she gets compliments on them all the time. I originally got them for her to be used in her nursing job but she now wears them everywhere! She also prefers these comfort wise over the comparable Globe Castro Womens shoes.

Union Force Snowboard Binding

Union Force Snowboard Binding

Rating for this product: 5 October 29, 2009

After seeing every local shop owners eyes light up when I asked how Unions were I went ahead and got these in Green. The green is a little less mint looking in person than in the picture so dont worry. I threw these on my new Lib Sk8 Banana and straped in in my living room. Its hard to describe how perfect these bindings felt and some undescribable difference than any other binding I have strapped into so far. Ill try to explain more after I actually ride them. Dont worry that these things dont have some wierd shaped highback to look cool, the straps are solid and ratchet flawlessly, I couldnt feel any pressure points, and Union's fully ajustable disks alow you to put these anywhere at any angle you want on your board. EST what?

Nomis OG Plaid Full-Zip Hooded Sweatshirt - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 October 29, 2009

The only reason I am not giving this shirt a 5* rating is the price. Although Nomis has sick designs, unique colorwaves, and an ultra steezy fit, they charge an arm and a leg. This hoodie is the same thickness as any other hoodie. Many Nomis sweatshirts are extra thick - not this one. Its still a sick looking piece but dont expect anything super special. Also, the lines are not fabric - they are screen printed. Im not saying dont sport this baby - because I do and I love it, just don't steal money from your gear budget to try to afford this Nomis hoodie.

Nixon Block Watch - Men's

Nixon Block Watch - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 29, 2009

This bad boy is bulletproof. I left it under the hood of my car after installing a car stereo system and literally like 6 months later found it there. I ran it through the dishwasher and it looks great still. The browns are a little different than in the picture. The metal part is not so gold looking - its a little more brassy, but totally a great value for a thick band Nixon.

Nixon Player Watch - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 29, 2009

What else needs to be said. Sick watch. The newer ones are a little smaller face than the old school players, but they still look good. Dont be too fooled by the band though. Nixon takes PRO pics, but when you get it in the mail, the band will not look quite as two toned as is shown on their website. Extra links are also included which are SO NICE for the extra steezy loose look.

Beginners or Budget Riders Have a Great Option With the Burton Custom

Burton Custom Snowboard Binding - 09/10

Burton Custom Snowboard Binding - 09/10

Rating for this product: 4 October 29, 2009

The Customs are one of Burtons flagship bindings. They are not super flashy or made out of some crazy fiber that is only found in the Alps or anything, but they are sturdy and great for the money. Although these are by no means top of the line binders they would be a GREAT first binding. One thing Burton does a good job on is their buckles. They are easy to get those first few clicks started to strap in and loosten with a flick (which is HUGE for first time or learner riders). If you are looking to get the best for your money this is definately a good option. If you want a more top of the line binder or have the bones to spare - I would not recommend the upper end Burtons (the P1.1 being the exception) Over $159.99 get out of Burton and start looking at Union.

Im Not a Burton Fan But I Still Give These a Stellar Rating

Burton Cargo Pant - Men's - 09/10

Burton Cargo Pant - Men's - 09/10

Rating for this product: 5 October 29, 2009

Although I have found that alot of Burton stuff seems to be loosing quality, these pants are not that way. I love them. I am a 34"w x 30/32" in jeans and the L fit me perfectly. On the bottom of these are little buttons you can use to keep you from tearing the hell out of the heels while you walk around in the resort parking lot which is really nice. Also, the material is very thick and has a fabric texture so it doesnt look more like a tarp than a piece of cloth. Not mentioned is that the left cargo pocket has a flap over the pocket revealing a clear pass pocket which was handy for my season pass. 10k waterproofing is standaed - not great - but I have done some spring riding in these hiking the park and sitting on my ass recovering after I eat it on a rail and have never had a problem feeling wet at all. Not insulated - but thick enough fabric I have used them all season long with nothing but shorts on underneath. Also reasonable price considering the colors available. Also the "slim" fit Dogfunk put in their Tech Specs is bologna. They fit like normal snowbard pants maybe even a little looser in my thigh area then my Foursquares. These are not Tech Nine pants, but DONT WORRY if you are not into the bell bottom look I see in some videos.

Foursquare Hoffman Pant - Men's

October 29, 2009

These Hoffmans run a little big on me. I am your same size bro 34"w x 30"l in jeans (5'9" 170lb)and these were pretty long. They fit correctly in the waist though. If you are not into baggy then I WOULD recommend the M, but if you want to add a little swagger in your step get the L. They're not gonna fall completely off your ass or anything. Hope that helps Chris.

Spy Zed Goggles w/Free Extra Lens

Spy Zed Goggles w/Free Extra Lens

Rating for this product: 4 October 29, 2009

These goggles are wonderful if you can get them on sale at Whiskey or Brociety. If you are planning on paying full price I feel you would be really silly not to go with the Oakley A Frames. The nice thing about these goggles is they DO come with that extra lens. That is great if you are on a budget (who isnt right) and ride day and night. The second lens that came with mine was a night lens and it is fairly easy to switch out. No second lens case though, which sucks because what are you supposed to do with it once you take off the protective plastic film and use it for the first time? Although the field of view on these is much better than I experienced with the Dragons I previously owned, again, they dont compare to the optical correctness of the Oakley A Frames for almost the same price. Fogging is minimal as long as you take care of them. If you are a somewhat experienced rider and are looking for some steezy goggles to get you a date - pick these up! It will work (trust me). If you care more about performance or are planning on getting your first pair of goggles and are paying anywhere near full price - check out the Oakley A Frames.

Comfort and Quality Without Looking Like Dan Akroyd

Smith Holt Skullcandy Audio Helmet

Smith Holt Skullcandy Audio Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 October 28, 2009

Not much more to say that hasn't been said by all the guys below. Sick helmet. Great protection, more than ample heat wise, and it doesn't make you look like Dan Akroyd in the Coneheads. I have tried out just about every brands audio helmet out there(Red Hi-Fi, Pro-Tec Assault, and a Bern that I forget the name of) and this bucket was DEFINATELY the best feeling for my head and felt the sturdiest as well. Weird enough though - I was wearing a L in every other brand and a S with this helmet? I don't know why and don't think this is normal that they run so big, but thats just my experience. The S fit me perfectly. I also love the goggle strap clip - its a very solid piece of plastic that is not gonna break any time soon. It is also actually functional and easy to use because it has a spring loaded clothes pin type of mechanism instead of a retarded button clip or flimsy paperclip type of connection to hold the goggle strap. The only issues I have had is that the good quality parts make this helmet a tad heavier than the others I have tried, and after a year of eating snow the connector inside of the earpiece doesn't connect perfectly anymore so the music will cut in and out at times. I was able to jimmy rig it just fine with a zip tie and it works without any issues now, but I definately put this helmet through hell before it started to malfunction. The only other bummer is the volume mechanism. I like some other brands that put a mute on one of the earpieces instead of halfway down the audio cord because when I want to talk to a homie on the lift I have to dig through my jacket to find the little volume control. The audio is not as good as my set of Skyllcandy Ink'd earbuds, but lets be realistic - what over the ear phones are under $75? I would trade the sound for the convenience of it being built into the helmet any day! Since I imagine that most people are getting a helmet it is for protection, don't let my little pet peeves steer you away - I still give the helmet a 5* rating and would not buy any other helmet out there currently if/when I need another one.

Lib Technologies Skate Banana Original BTX Snowboard

October 28, 2009

Kayla, I have a size 9 Burton boot and just threw my binders on this board (156 standard width) the other day. It seems that there are gonna be NO problems with drag for me, and I assume your BF will be the same. Also, since board length is alot about preference and riding style as well as physical size and weight I would try to sneak a peek at his current board to see how long you want to get it (the size is often printed somewhere on the board top and will probably just be a number between 150-160). If everything goes wrong and he gets mad at you for getting him the wrong size and you live in the Salt Lake area then dump him and give me a call. A girl who gets me a new snowboard for my birthday couldnt get me the wrong size if they tried.

My 09/10 Lib Skate Banana does the same thing, even when I flex the tail. At first I was scared s**tless, but I'm glad to hear that everybody's is doing it. I was definately not putting too much pressure on it if its built to handle my 170lb chubby ass butters and presses. Hope that helps.

Burton Seems To Be Going Chineese

Burton Triad Snowboard Binding

Burton Triad Snowboard Binding

Rating for this product: 2 October 26, 2009

I have owned a pair of Burton Customs as my first binders and were pleased with them. After switching around a few times, I finally decided to drop the money on these assuming it would be worth it. When i got them, all I had to do was pull back on the highback and I heard the plastic creek like they were about to snap. Everywhere I flexed these, they made me worried they would not handle more than 3 days on the mountain. Other reviewers say they have ridden 70+ days on these, so I may be wrong, but I felt like I didn't even trust them for one day. The straps were top notch though. Check out Forum Republics that come in almost all the same colors and are cheaper. If you aren't getting these on sale, then you would be extremely stupid not to at least look into Union Force-SL first.

I Cannot Find a Better Binding For the Price (And I've Looked)

Forum Republic Snowboard Binding

Forum Republic Snowboard Binding

Rating for this product: 5 October 26, 2009

I rode these things about 25 days last season and they are wonderful. I like stiffer binders that know what I am thinking and respond before my feet do and here they are. I have gone though Burton Customs, Forum Arenas, and Burton Triads. These are by far my favorite. The straps are like pillows, and the green color looks much less crazy on your board than in this picture. I love the color (all personal preference anyways), the buckles don't get stuck, and my straps have not worn out yet. These even took a shot to the parking lot after I drove out of the resort without closing my roof rack. Cosmetics aside, they still perform the same as day 1. I have also had no screw/part loosening issues. Although I currently have Union Force bindings on my main stick, my loaner/urban riding board still has these babies on it. I had the L/XL bindings on a regular width board and my 8.5 Burton boots fit almost perfect because I liked the bigger plush feeling. The foot bed was just a little bit too wide for my preference, but like I said - totally willing to trade for the big straps. I prefer the Forces just a little but was VERY pleased with these - especially for the price! WOW!

Forum Youngblood Snowboard

Forum Youngblood Snowboard

Rating for this product: 4 October 26, 2009

This was my first board, and I got pretty serious about riding right off the bat. This thing was used for everything, and although it was exhausting having to lean hella back during my tree runs, it was worth it to come out of them and thrash (or try to thrash) the park all in the same run. This board started out a little stiff but as I broke it in and got better it worked out just fine (flex is all personal preference anyways) This mofo is also DURABLE. This board went up with me about 40x last season and I had NO issues. It literally saved my future marriage when it took the blow between my feet instead of my family jewels after I wiped out on a tree run and it didn't crack or anything. It also took a blow to the tail like a champ after I forgot to close my roof rack and drove away from the resort. After a mild heart attack, a trip back to the resort the next day, and little epoxy, it still rides the same as the first day I got it. I am 5'9" 170lb and I rode this stick 156. It was just fine for me to learn on and I still keep it around for urban sessions.

The Title Is Misleading - These Should Be Called the A+ Frame

Oakley A-Frame Goggle

Rating for this product: 5 October 26, 2009

As was mentioned, one of the places to not shop by price is in your goggles (and in my opinion boots). I have owned Dragon DX's, Spy Zeds, and these Oakley A Frames. They by far take the cake. Having these on your face straight up makes your day better. I have NO problems with my peripheral vision, as almost everyone mentioned they look dope, and I have had almost 0 fog issues (any issues I had were due to me hiking the park and I sweat like an ape anyways - NO goggle stands a chance) If you are a long time rider you will definately appreciate these goggles because you know what sucky ones are like and if you are new to riding GET THESE even if you have to get a crappy color on sale because otherwise you will not enjoy your riding experience. Most other cheeper goggles will just fog up on you when you are going at learner speeds and spending 20 minutes strapping in to your binders and it gets frustrating. Trust me here new riders - form over steez with your goggles - its better to go to backcountryoutlet.com and get a crappy color A Frame for $50-$70 than WASTE money on another pair of cheep goggles. I own Black/Black Iridium (lots of protection for sunny days - wierd hue, but I love the mirror look) Military Khacki/Gold Iridium (perfect all around - no funky snow colors but no sweet mirror effect looking at me like the Black Iridiums have) and Teal/Persimmion (night riding and ok all around if you ride day and night and don't want to buy 3 pairs.) They also fit just fine with my Smith Holt helmet.
