Arc'teryx Cita Top - Sleeveless - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 October 4, 2011

This may not be the world's most flattering top (the higher neckline and color block pattern are odd) but it is ridiculously comfortable and breathable. The length is great for closing off gaps between pants and top, does not ride up, and the fabric is very breathable. Perfect for summer, but I'll be layering it for fall runs and then wearing it in the gym this winter.

Mostly Perfect

Arc'teryx Escala Tank Top - Women's

Arc'teryx Escala Tank Top - Women's

Rating for this product: 4 October 4, 2011

The top is a fairly heavy-weight material that is great for fall runs when it isn't quite cool enough for long sleeves. The fit is very flattering, tough more fitted than anticipated, and the length is great. One of the nicest things about this top is that it DOES NOT RIDE UP! I have a fairly short torso and plenty in the hip department, so I have a tough time finding tops long enough to not gap between the top and pant, and still not ride up. Very comfortable and the color is fantastic. The only reason that I didn't give it five stars is the snugger than normal fit through the midsection; it's tighter than the whole rest of the top and a larger size would mean ill-fitting shoulders. It's a small complaint, and not cause for return.

Montrail Mountain Masochist WB Trail Running Shoe - Women's

Montrail Mountain Masochist WB Trail Running Shoe - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 March 20, 2010

I pulled these shoes out of the box and packed them for Costa Rica. I broke them in while in Panama during the dry season and ran through 95 degree weather on beaches and hiking in jungles in Costa. They never felt stiff, gave me blisters or made my feet feel overheated. I paired them with coolmax socks and was good to go. I wear them hiking and running and they are grippy through mud, rocks, sand, water and on pavement. All other Montrails I've worn have been significantly tougher to break in, but these guys are perfect. Sizing is accurate as always. Please never discontinue!

Perfect for the Northwest

Arc'teryx Hyllus Softshell Jacket - Women's

Arc'teryx Hyllus Softshell Jacket - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 February 9, 2010

This top is snuggly and warm on cold days, and fits easily under a shell on especially rainy, windy, and freezing days. The fit is very close without being restrictive (I'm 5'2", 120lbs and have the xs) although the sleeves seem slightly short. Personally, I prefer a little shorter sleeve length so that it fits under a shell without bunching at the wrists. I wear this for wintertime running and hiking and have yet to feel the cold. I live in an extra-windy portion of Washington, and this jacket handles the wind and lighter rains very nicely.

I wanted to like it...

Columbia Biker Betty Top - Sleeveless - Women's

Columbia Biker Betty Top - Sleeveless - Women's

Rating for this product: 2 February 9, 2010

...But the fit was somehow off. The arm holes are nice and big, with excellent air circulation, but the seaming causes them to gap- showing a significant amount of sport bra. The collar seems flattering, but when I bend over (in this case, in the gym) I show a LOT of cleavage. The length is usually nice on me as I have a short torso, and longer lengths tend to create the illusion of a longer torso, but this one was too tight over the hips and loose around the stomach. The seaming on the tops of the shoulders also caused them to peak, giving me little wings.
Bottom line: I spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to make the shirt work, instead of how it worked for me. On the upside, the color is nice, the fabric is soft, it wicked sweat well... so if you are extremely tall, have a very long torso, and narrow hips- this may be a great top for you. I, on the other hand, am 5'2" and an athletic 120 lbs, with hips. I am returning this top.
