Voile Split Kit (DIY)

March 29, 2011

Yes. You will likely want to order new templates/stickers, t-nuts, and ptex disks, but you should be able to get these individually from voile without buying a whole new kit. You'll need new rivets for the tip/tail clips as well.

K2 T1 Snowboard Boot - Men's

K2 T1 Snowboard Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 23, 2010

This is a really really good snowboarding boot.
Not recommended for park rats or beginner snowboarders, but if you don't fall into these categories and they fit, get 'em.
Not as unnecessarily stiff as the Burton Driver X but much more stiff than most boots on the market these days. If you would rather hit a pillow line or a cliff than butter in your friend's mom's backyard, you want a boot with a stiffer flex like this.
Also the boa liner really secures your foot regardless of how much you feel like tightening the flex with the laces = versatile.

Flow NXT FR Snowboard Binding

December 10, 2009

It depends what kind of riding you're doing with your dh, as that's a pretty good board for all different stuff. This is a stiff binding, so if you're riding steep lines and dropping cliffs then I'd say yes. If you're building jumps in the backcountry or riding all around I'd say maybe. If you're riding park I'd say no way jose.
I had some flow nxt at bindings and I liked them but they aren't very responsive. I like ride binders better now.

Ride RX Snowboard Binding

Ride RX Snowboard Binding

Rating for this product: 4 December 10, 2009

Solid bindings. Good medium flex that is stiff enough to handle some steep lines and cliffs. Only complaint is comfort. Not painful or bothersome just not super cozy. Great bindings for their price.

Burton P1.1 Snowboard Binding - 08/09

December 10, 2009

I would go medium. However you could make a large work, they would just be bigger and heavier than necessary.

Burton Cartel Snowboard Binding - 09/10

^ don't change your binding size based on your board size. boot length is all that really matters (and width kind of). But if you're rockin 10+ boots get large, no question.

Burton Triad Snowboard Binding - 09/10

December 10, 2009

I hate it when bindings are on the small side. It sucks when you have more toe off the board than heel. Also, you want the footbed to reach all the way out to your toe so you have good responsiveness. I wear 10.5 boots and always ride large binders. I have some M/L Rides and I wish they were bigger.

Voile Split Kit (DIY)

December 10, 2009

I'm thinking that might be a bad idea. i had a burton supermodel i was about to cut but the insert pattern would have made it a pain in the ass. the problem is, even if you have a burly enough saw, once you cut the inserts in half, they'll start to pull out and cause problems. i split a forum instead, i just think keeping a saw away from burtons is a good idea.

I'm still finishing up the building process, so I can't speak of on mountain performance yet, but I can say that if you have the patience, splitting your own board seems the way to go. Factory splits are just too expensive and with a custom split you get to choose any board you want instead of being limited to the minimal selection of factory splits.

A couple notes on building:
1. when splitting the board, make sure you file all the way through the edges so the blade doesn't catch and rip it out. It's set in further than you think so use a dremmel or something if you have to.
2. i decided to replace the puck screws with 1/4 by 3/4 long bolts with 1/4 t-nuts on the back instead of the wood screws with epoxy method. if you use a forsener bit to countersink the t-nuts you can p-tex right over them. i think this will be much stronger. if you want to ride hard and drop cliffs in the backcountry, don't get stuck 5 miles out with a stripped puck mount, use a t-nut.
3. also, don't try to split a burton, the burton binding insert pattern has metal inserts right down the center so it'll screw up your cut.

i did lots of research before I had the balls to chop a board in half, so hopefully these tips will help.
good luck!

Teva Dozer Sandal - Men's

September 15, 2009

I have a slightly narrow foot, and have a bit of wiggle room, but it doesn't bother me. I would say these would be a great fit for someone with a normal or slightly wide foot. If you have very narrow feet I might try a different model.

Fox Racing Sidewinder Bike Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 25, 2009

I've had these for about a month now, they seem to have pretty durable construction, have protected my hands in a couple nasty falls, and are not too hot even though it's been 80-90 degrees here. Would recommend.

I ride the K2 Believer 157. I absolutely love it and would highly recommend it. However, I believe dogfunk is all out of the 157 size.
Get the 159 if ya like pow, get the 154 if you like park. or if you really want a midsized board, find the Believer somewhere else or look at the RideDH or the Lib T.Rice 157. Good luck!

DAKINE Charger Glove

DAKINE Charger Glove

Rating for this product: 3 January 2, 2009

While these gloves' low profile is very nice, and they are relatively warm, they get soaked. When they get wet, they freeze, and that is no fun. Decent gloves and great for park, but I wouldn't recommend them for backcountry or extremely cold temps.
