La Sportiva Fireblade Trail Running Shoe - Men's

October 16, 2009

My feet are a little wide, so I've primarily stuck with Montrails...currently the Streaks...how would these compare? My Streaks seem to be wearing out rather quickly. Thanks for your input!

Marmot Essence Jacket - Men's

Marmot Essence Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 July 22, 2009

This is a great coat. If you are looking for a functional and LIGHT-weight jacket, look no further...especially if you see it on SAC like I did. 70 dollars for a coat like this is a steal! Not only is this jacket only 8oz and super compressible, it blocks the rain/wind and breaths like a champ. The only thing I would change would be to add a couple more ounces and attach some Velcro or something similar to the sleeves so that you can batten down ALL the hatches:-) I am extremely pleased with this purchase and will update in a year or so regarding durability.

MontBell Super Stretch Burrow #5 Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Synthetic

MontBell Super Stretch Burrow #5 Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Synthetic

Rating for this product: 5 June 12, 2009

This a great lightweight synthetic bag, not sure about the temp rating as I don't know what the temp was when I used it for the first time. However, we were up on a ridge.(Mt. Pleasant, VA)..i think around 4,000 ft the forecast called for temps in the 50s in a nearby town...not positive though...and it was super windy! With my Ibex wool beanie and my clothes on wrapped in a tarp I was more than comfortable. I ended up having to take my beanie off at one point because I started sweating!

Montrail Hurricane Ridge XCR Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Montrail Hurricane Ridge XCR Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 June 12, 2009

I've taken these on a couple trips so far, backpacking and hiking. Walked through shallow creeks a couple times...no leakage. They are super comfy and for Gore lined sneaks they breath well. Try not to stub your toes on junk in the trail though...on my first hike they were nicked up pretty well...I'm diggin' em.

Arc'teryx Acrux 50 Backpack - 2620-2990 cu in

February 28, 2009

I am considering this pack because of its versatility...as school let's up I intend to do more overnight trips...I already know this bag would be stellar for these as a friend of mine has one...however I also do some whitewater kayaking and am interested in going on a couple overnight trips a year...how waterproof is this bag? Has anyone possibly submerged it for say 5-10min? I'm wondering how dry it would be if I have to bail out of my kayak and the bag ends up swimming a while...Thanks for your help,Tim

I have had this pack for over a year and though it is a little pricey (fortunately for me it was a gift;-)...I love it. I use it as my "briefcase" for work, day hikes, mountain biking, and you name it! It is super light and very comfortable.

NRS Hydroskin Rash Guard - Long-Sleeve - Men's

They're pretty tough...but are you sure you want to wear a thin layer of neoprene for paintball? I'm not sure this would be your most comfortable option outside of the water...great on the water though.

Thule Stacker Carrier

July 24, 2008

You don't need to put rails on your car. If your car has 4 doors all you'll need is Thule's 400XT Aero Foot Kit with the correct fit kit for your car, as well as the load bars. You can definetly put 2 kayaks on the car. Either the Thule stacker or the Hullaport Pro would be my reccomendations. The Stacker will offer the option to carry more boats and it's a better deal. You will only need one stacker regardless of how many boats you'll need to carry. A 50" load bar is reccomended for your car. I'd got with the next size up which I believe is a 58" it could make all the difference on what you can put on top later on.I have a sentra as well...you can put four ww kayaks with 58" cross bars...I don't even have a stacker--just talk to someone who knows how to use straps well, it'll save you 100 bucks...
