Any idea how long a size small is? I'm 5'10" an 145 lbs and I like to wear small when I can because I like the slim fit, but I hate when a shirt barely makes it past my waist. I have a few volcom shirts that are small and fit well but others that are too short. Would you recommend a small or medium for someone of my height/size?

these jeans are pretty awesome for the most part but I definitely second Jason's advice to size up. I usually wear a size 30 waste and I've owned many brands of skinny jeans that if anything, size 30 was a little loose. A size 28 is even comfortable in some brands. However, I can barely button these things at size 30. When I opened them up it took me like 10 minutes to button them haha. Definitely size up.
