Montrail Mountain Masochist OutDry Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 August 25, 2012

I really enjoyed these shoes hiking in Glacier National Park this summer. Logged 40+ miles high elevation hikes. Absolutely no break in required. The OutDry (lighter and more flexible than Gore Tex) kept my feet dry crossing water runoff from melting snow and few creeks I high stepped across. Oddly my right shoe laces is longer than the left but not a big issue. Might give the version II of this shoe a try with the fluid post insole, but for now these are fine.

Salomon changed the shoe color some

Salomon XT Wings 2 Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 June 21, 2012

See the attached photo as you'll actually be getting this shoe with the yellow laces and slightly different coloring in the side panel strips. However I actually like the changes so I'm keeping them.

As with just about all Salomon shoes I've owned they fit comfortably right out of the box. Looking forward to many happy miles in these. Thanks Backcountry for the awesome price and free 2 day shipping!

Very nice MHW shorts

Mountain Hardwear Setter Short - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Setter Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 May 7, 2012

No quite sure the negative reviews done multiple times but I purchased a pair of the Setter Shorts and find them to be typical MHW fit and quality. I wear a 30 waist and these fit perfect. Material seems very tough and lite weight for those warmer days.

The North Face TNF Crew Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 28, 2012

Really like the fit and comfort from these shirts. Nice casual style, very well made and that's not cut long in the torso allowing it to be worn comfortably without tucking it in.

I like it so well, ordered 2 others in different colors.

Marmot Approach Softshell Jacket - Men's

Marmot Approach Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 23, 2012

Bought the Marmot Approach to replace a MHW Offwidth softshell (cut way too short) and really prefer the Marmot. I'm 5'10" 140lbs 38" chest and the Small fit is perfect. Looking forward to using it this Spring on the MTB trails and hiking in Glacier NP. Marmot is becoming my preferred brand!

Perfect Softshell Jacket

Marmot Altitude Softshell Jacket - Men's

Marmot Altitude Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 19, 2012

I've always been a big fan of the MHW softshells but their offwidth jackets are cut way to short in the torso. Decided to try the Marmot Altitude and have been thoroughly pleased with quality and fit. A much normal length. Also the jacket does have a light fleece type insulation in the enter lining.

The best 1800 cu. in. Pack

Gregory Z 30 Backpack - 1739-1861cu in

Gregory Z 30 Backpack - 1739-1861cu in

Rating for this product: 5 October 2, 2011

This is without a doubt the most comfortable pack in this size. Nice padding in the lower back area and hip waist belt along with an excellent design in the air suspension. The 2011 model adds a few design changes, one nice addition is the inside zippered mesh pocket. My Osprey Hydroform bladder works great and the Osprey Sternum Strap magnet accessory fits perfect.

I tried the Osprey Kestrel 28 and really wanted to like it as I have their Raptor 6 pack and love it for Mountain Bike riding but the 28 just was not comfortable compared to the Z30.

I'm 5' 10" tall and the Medium fits perfect. I called Gregory and they said they quit making this pack in the small size. I had the Z30 2008 model in the small and there is only 3/4" difference in the frame between the two sizes.

Not quite what I thought it would be

Osprey Packs Kestrel 28 Backpack - 1600-1700cu in

Osprey Packs Kestrel 28 Backpack - 1600-1700cu in

Rating for this product: 3 September 28, 2011

I really wanted to like this pack but its lack of the supportive frame is a negative. The one I bought was their most recent 2011 version, not the one pictured here and it does not have any type of supportive wire frame. Pack felt uncomfortable when loaded, just could not get it to my liking. Note there is no padding in the waist belt.

Opted to get another Gregory Z30 2011 model to replace my 5 year old one and it offers way more comfort than the Osprey K28. The Z30 does have a very good wire support frame and a padded waist belt.

Superb rack for Pickup's

Thule Bed Rider Truck Mount

Rating for this product: 4 May 15, 2011

The Thule 822XT is a simple, well made and easy to install rack. I have mine positioned where the bar is over the bed post holes on my 2009 GMC Z71 1500 Series. I have a set of the OEM GM retractable tie downs that L brackets set on top of so no starching the bed paint, not that it would but could I suppose. Holds two bikes very securely and as mentioned above in its positioning there's enough space between the Thule bar and cab that both tires fit there and I use rubber tie down straps to secure from rolling back and forth.

The only suggestion I would have is that they ship a metal adapter for the small square end of the bar rather than using a rubber spacer.

Thanks backcountry for the prompt shipment an excellent sale price. *** Have the Shipping Dept. also tape the ends of the Thule box too *** Mine arrived alright but one end of the box was nearly open that would have allowed the rack to slide out of the box in shipping.
