Montrail Mountain Masochist Trail Running Shoe - Men's

May 3, 2011

I tried on several Montrail models and found bliss with the Wildwoods - but of course, can't find another pair and have worn out the Wildwoods. Does the Masochist fit like the Wildwood TR, or more like the AT which does not work for my foot? I have a narrow heel, wide forefoot, and am more or less flatfooted. I usually put Superfeet or SOLE in my shoes. (And yes, I do wear men's shoes, women's are too small.)

Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Sleeping Pad

Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 5 October 27, 2009

I never sleep well on the ground. I bought the NeoAir as a light add on for trips when I expect to have to bivy rather than sleep in my hammock. I found that it works equally well in the hammock and does not need as much inflation, and while on the ground it does fine. Had an unexpected ten degree temp drop to 25F one night and it didn't even need the extra layer of foam pad that I neglected to take. To prevent pack wear, I use a ziploc or one of the small stuff sacks for some piece of gear I'm not taking, and picked up the silnet patch kit.

Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Sleeping Pad

There is NO FOAM to degrade in the NeoAir. That's why you can blow it up.

For long term storage I would lay it out or hang it open and flat, or with one or two loose (not creased) folds if space is an issue.

Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Sleeping Pad

I was comfortable to 25F without additional pad. It's 2.5 inches thick, and more comfortable if not completely inflated.

Therm-a-Rest NeoAir Sleeping Pad

I use a ziploc bag to prevent wear while it rides around in the pack. It's too small to strap outside the pack anyways - you'll fit it in the side pocket of a pack easy, it rolls to about the size of a nalgene.

Nalgene Lexan Wide Mouth Water Bottle - 16oz

Nalgene Lexan Wide Mouth Water Bottle - 16oz

Rating for this product: 5 January 2, 2008

It's a Nalgene! I like that there are so many colors available. It didn't leak despite somehow turning itself upside down in a side pocket on my pack. The wide mouth makes it easy to clean.

I found these kept me quite warm, and so far they have maintained their basic shape through the laundry and four days straight use.
