Hi-Performance Outdoor Shell for Business Wear

Marmot Traveler Jacket - Men's

Marmot Traveler Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 April 25, 2010

This jacket/coat does exactly what I wanted; high-performance rain wear that I can use with business clothing. I was nervous about the new Membrain Strata fabric but, its a-ok. Definately very waterproof and seems to be breathable, too. The fabric is quite light and should work well on the warmest days. Conversely, its not going to provide much warmth but, decent sizing will allow for signifcant layering of insulation. I think it looks good and one, of my friends even noticed it and complemented. The hood works well. The pockets are a fishnet fabric that will provide some ventilation although they don't seem rugged so, I'll be careful about putting pointy or sharp objects, like pens, in them.

Patagonia Footwear Boaris Shoe - Men's

Patagonia Footwear Boaris Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 December 17, 2009

Typical, excellent Patagonia style and consruction. I have a sz 9 or 9.5, low-volume foot and the 9 fits me very well. I can even use my black Superfeet insoles in these. I wouldn't try using them for hiking (I have better hiking shoes) but, they're great for kicking back in town or the mountains. Highly recommended.

Marker Baron 12 Ski Binding

November 24, 2009

5'10" 180lbs thin & fit. +30 years skiing expert terrain fast. Ski mostly in the East.. 2-3x yearly out west. Thinking about putting the Baron's on a new pair of Mantras. Dalbello Krypton Pros with Intuition liners (lighest boot I ever owned!) Not sure how much I'll use the Randonee funciton... Maybe a couple-three times a year? Maybe not at all. I hear the Barons' are heavy. Is it worth the extra weight? In the past, I've sought to build lighter setups thinking some types of turns (jump) are easier/quicker in lighter gear. Thoughts?

Marker Baron 12 Ski Binding

There are shops (racestocksports.com) that can rebuild the sole of a boot. The thing is, if you walked around enough to wear out the soles, maybe the rest of the boot is shot, too? Is it worth throwing money into a sole-build up on an older pair? Maybe you spend most of your time walking around the parking lot and wore-out the soles prematurely? Who knows....
