I have put this jacket through it's paces. Life in Holland requires protection from the winter wind, drizzle and cold. I walk & cycle almost every day. The coat has done a fine job against the rain and wind...but left me feeling a bit chilly in temps below 38F. Because the coat is slim fit...it doesn't allow for bulky sweater layering. The water/wind protection of the outer layer is great BUT the inner liner feels too thin. I can see thru the material and the down or feather insulation is not very thick...appears spotty especially along the seams where the sleeves attach to the coat. I've had better insulation from other 600 down fill jackets. I think they tried to keep the coat slim and lightweight but it really doesn't provide a true 600 fill warmth. The coat's outer layer sleeves are too long for it's petite cut...a bit mismatched proportionally. I don't typically have a problem with sleeves being too long...so I feel it's a design flaw. Probably meant to keep the liner dry during wet weather. It's annoying when I am shopping while wearing my coat as I have to tuck under the sleeves to use my hands. The up side is that while outside, the sleeves swallow my hands keeping them warmer. The pockets are shallow...I wish they had made the pockets a bit deeper. It would be nice for stashing my gloves, keys, phone, iPod or warming my hands. The collar of the outer layer is very high...which I like. Makes the hood fit well and allows for tucking my chin & mouth in for extra protection...and keeping the neck warm...when not using the hood. But, I think it could be annoying for some. The hood 'cinches' well, something I have had trouble with on other jackets...allowing for better visibility when turning your head.
Overall, I would give the jacket a 'Pretty cool' rating for being stylish, for it's great length and coverage, for it's wind and waterproof-ness. I would also give it an 'Adequate for the job' rating on it's temperature rating. Would be great if they would fix this on Version 2.0!
