Oakley A-Frame Goggle
March 16, 2012
Polarized lenses for skiing aren't the best choice. You won't find that many that are polarized. The reason is you can't see definition of ice vs. snow with polarized lenses. I would go with a goggle that allows for a replaceable lens and then get a really dark lens. Smith has a couple great options for goggles and then you can get the Fire Sensor Mirror or the Gold Sol X Mirror. Hope this helps.

Smith Phase Goggle - Women's
March 8, 2012
This lens is one of Smith's darkest. It has a 15% VLT rating which means it is very dark and only lets in 15% of sunlight. However, the green base makes it versatile because the green amplifies natural colors like green, brown, blue, etc. I would recommend this for blue bird days and somewhat overcast days. For snowy days this wouldn't be the best choice. Honestly a Sol X Mirror lens and a Sensor Mirror lens will cover most everyday on the mountain. The Gold Sol X Mirror is pretty sick, 7% VLT! Hope this helps.

Salomon Snowboards Malamute Snowboard Boot - Men's
March 7, 2012
I would highly recommend the Burton Ion for two reasons. First, it has upper and lower independent lacing, Two, they size the boot down slightly so you won't get any toe drag. I have the Imperial in size 12 on a wide board and they are amazing. The lacing points are also flush to the boot, i.e. they don't stick out like the Malamute. Hope this helps.

No. Out of all the ice axes (not tools) and piolets out there they are probably 50/50 when it comes to rivets in the head. Some have them and some don't. For a piolet (non aggressive tool) you don't really need them. You see rivets on tools like this when the shaft is bent, leading to a more aggressive tool used for vertical-ish ice. Make sense? The only question to ask, is if you will be doing technical vertical ice climbing.
