Basic question for any display - how big is it? How high are the letters? I need visibility as I don't want to wear my reading glasses biking (and I am old enough to need reading glasses!).

Great T

Patagonia Capilene 1 T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Patagonia Capilene 1 T-Shirt - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 20, 2011

Best T I own. Last time I bought a poly T was in 2004 and it was a "Patagonia Silkweight Capilene T-Shirt - Men's". The Capilene 1 T-Shirt is lighter than that one (which I still use) and longer. That makes it unlikely to come untucked while climbing or other activities.

I have worn this on 5 winter hikes since I bought this on Jan 19th. The days varied in length from 5, 6, 7, 8, to 9 hrs with max of 19 mi and 3300 elev gain with snowshoes in temps ranging from 0° F to 30° F. A wide variety of strenuous winter conditions. On each hike it served great as a base layer. At the car at the end of each trip this T was dry. I also worn it three days in a row at home to work to test its odor properties. Held up great. I decided to wash it after day 3 cause I thought I should, not because it smelled any worse than on day 1.

It is a bit pricey but I will probably buy a second to take backpacking this summer. I usually like to sleep in a cotton T that I do not wear hiking. This one is so good that I plan on wearing one during the day, rinsing it out, wearing the 2nd to bed and on the next day's hike. Got a 11 night trip planned so we will see how this works.

Nice shirt but . . .

Arc'teryx Ridgeline Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Arc'teryx Ridgeline Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 15, 2011

I like this shirt a lot. I wore it on a trip to Australia and New Zealand where I took it as one of two shirts for the Milford Trek hike. It does well on the plane and back country, dries fast, is very light weight, pack small, doesn't smell, and looks good on me. My "but some shortcomings" are as follows: first - the shirt tails seem shorter than most shirts I own and I own a lot of shirts, hence the tails kept coming out of my pants while hiking, sitting on the plane, etc. Second, those pockets are an interesting idea, they make you look smooth in front not baggy, but it is awkward opening and closing those side zippers when you are wearing a pack. I have worn this snowshoeing at home and it is impossible to open those zips with gloves on. Third - the classy Arc'Teryx logo is embroidered on the back. Okay with a pack on but I felt self-conscious while walking the bar tour of Sydney or even getting up to go to the men's room on the plane.
