Definitely worth it

Mountain Hardwear Airjet 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Mountain Hardwear Airjet 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 4 June 29, 2007

I have used the 2005 Airjet 2 for over a year. Even though the price seemed steep it was worth it. This tent was reasonably breathable, extremely stable, and nearly set up by itself. If set up properly there is no reason for any comdensation to occur. I have used this tent for July in New Mexico and it was just as dry in March in the Adirondacks. The only nitpicks I have is that the Airjet should probably be considered a one person due to its small size. I also doubt this tent would stay dry if used as a 2-man. For me this is the perfect all-around tent but, if you plan to use it for only a few weekend trips don't pay this price. Conversely if you are a very serious, year-round packer I would suggest an upgrade.

A good boot

Montrail Torre GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Montrail Torre GTX Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 29, 2007

I think that the Torre is just an all around good piece of backpacking equipment. I use it whenever I can on day hikes, weekend excursions, or monthlong trips. It has lasted me a year without any signs of wear besides the laces which I would immediately replace to save problems on the trail. The pros of this boot are its unbeatable water resistance and stability. However I have found this boot slightly heavier and less breathable than other less expensive boots I've tried. I would highly suggest the Torre as an all purpose boot for most backpackers even though it is heavy and unbreathable.
