Houston - we have a problem
Mountain Hardwear Typhoon Jacket - Women's
May 7, 2009
Had a serious malfunction with this jacket. Awesome if you travel with it folded perfectly... not so awesome if you stuff it in the stashpocket. My friend had no issues with her jacket while backpacking through a VERY wet Ireland (she laid it out and folded it perfectly like a fragile cashmere sweater). I stuffed mine in the enclosed pocket and had a wet face and rain in my eyes constantly.
No matter how hard i tried to straighten out the bill, it was a doomed venture. That sucker got bent and did NOT want to straighten out again. Kinda defeats a lot of the purpose if you ask me.
Going to try to straighten the bill by heating it up with a blowdryer? I dunno - grasping straws here.
When not having bill issues - Great rain protection and fit true to size. Seemed to breathe well enough and vents well. Just don't stuff the jacket or you'll be sorry... sorry and wet.
(Got my jacket a few years ago, she got hers last year. I suppose there could be design differences - but when touching/comparing there were no significant differences between the two. Never had any problems with this jacket - but this is also the first time I've stuffed the jacket for any lengthy period of time).

Perfect sandal
Chaco Z/2 Unaweep Sandal - Women's
February 12, 2009
I have used my chaco's for years - river guiding, hiking, backpacking, etc... never been disappointed. Great to hike in and really good arch support. I wear an 8.5 and can wear either the 8 or the 9 comfortably and happily. I prefer Chaco's with a toe strap - makes me feel more secure when hiking.

Ruffwear PFD
Ruffwear K-9 Float Coat
February 12, 2009
Using the size small for my shih-tzu's (around 9 pounds each). The flotation is so high on their backs that you have to adjust the collar piece a bit or they struggle to keep their heads out of the water (the back floats so high that it pushes the noses down a bit).
The best dog PFD that i've found so far, despite the little fit issues. Trying them out on some river trips this summer - we'll see how they do!

Awesome Fit
prAna Convertible Pant - Women's
February 12, 2009
I absolutely love these prAna pants. They are exceptionally comfortable and a great length for a convertible. When I zip off the bottom of the pants they still look cool. Been climbing, hiking, and multi-day backpacking and haven't been let down yet. The cargo cut is cute- and the flap-pocket back makes for a good butt! They run a bit big for the size - but I liked the slight size up and kept them anyway - still really flattering.

Chilly Coast of Baja
Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Down Jacket - Women's
February 12, 2009
I don't get why everybody's complaining about the fit. I think this is a great jacket. I've had it for several years and still can't find anything that I would want to replace it with. I'm 5'6 and 125 lbs - ordered a small. The arms were a bit puffy at first but after a couple times of wear the down shifted to the correct places.
We're both wearing the Mtn Hardware down jackets - and both use these as our primary cold weather jackets.
