Scarpa Vision Climbing Shoe -2009

Scarpa Vision Climbing Shoe -2009

Rating for this product: 5 April 29, 2009

I wear a size 11 street shoe and picked these up in size 44. Fit is perfect, and my feet are sort of wide too. The grip is great, but the heel does feel a little loose. I guess I could try cranking the laces down more in the future to see if that helps. Oh yeah, and they'll turn your feet red.

And it works just fine. Mouth is big enough to easily fit my hand in, and it holds plenty of chalk. It comes with the brush too which was a surprise.

A sock chock full o' chalk

Metolius Super Chalk Sock

Metolius Super Chalk Sock

Rating for this product: 5 April 29, 2009

It's nice because you don't end up with your hands totally caked in chalk (unless you dig that kind of thing). Also, I'd imagine it would be fun to throw this thing at people too!

The North Face NSE Tent Mule Bootie - Men's

The North Face NSE Tent Mule Bootie - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 27, 2009

Picked these up just for kicking it around inddors, and they're awesome. Good grip and insulation, and the fit is right on unlike most other TNF stuff (I wear a size 10.5 and the L is fine).

I guess they'd be fine for camping, but they'd be drafty and might let snow/debris in due to the low cut.

It's compact and light which makes it nice for overnight kayak trips and whatnot. Also, it's polished to a mirror finish, so I can use it to coiffe my sweet do as well.

Voile Hardwire 3 Pin Telemark Binding

Voile Hardwire 3 Pin Telemark Binding

Rating for this product: 4 February 10, 2009

These are light, durable, and relatively cheap compared to similar bindings. An under-foot cable system would be nice (like a Hammerhead or Black Diamond binding), but this system is still very effective.

A little flawed

Backcountry.com Wool Hooded Jacket - Men's

Backcountry.com Wool Hooded Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 6, 2008

It's really warm and the outer face of the jacket looks/feels cool due to the wool, but the design is a little odd. The arms are pretty long (I'm 5'10'' 155 lbs and ordered the medium), and there's no collar...the hood is connected directly to the jacket like a hoody. This is fine if you want a hoody, but I was expecting a collar. Guess I should have looked at the pics a little more closely. Four stars only because it wasn't what I was expecting, but it's still a nice piece!

It's cheap, comfortable, and looks awesome! People like to ask, "Why do you have a cannon on your shirt?" When you explain it they just stare...unless they're cool and know what you're talking about.

Quite possibly. It's soft and fits well. I'd size up if you don't like a close fit. And people love to ask, "What's with the goat??"

Yakima Multimounts 1 Pair

Yakima Multimounts 1 Pair

Rating for this product: 5 August 24, 2007

These really opened up a lot of space for passengers and gear in my car. I used to carry kayak paddles and other long objects in the car which was pretty awkward, and it required the back seat(s) to be folded down. They're also way more secure than just lashing things to the rack.

Super comfortable

Exped AirMat 7.5 Sleeping Pad

Exped AirMat 7.5 Sleeping Pad

Rating for this product: 4 August 21, 2007

More padding than anybody could ever need, and it's fairly light too considering the dimensions. The only problem with a pad that relies entirely on air is it doesn't insulate as well, and if you get a hole there's no foam padding to help compensate for loss of air. Be careful where you lay this pad to avoid punctures! I'd recommend it for warm/cool weather car camping or base camp use.
