Paceline Products Chamois Butt'r Eurostyle Creme

Paceline Products Chamois Butt'r Eurostyle Creme

Rating for this product: 5 July 29, 2012

Yes. It is.
I only wish it was less expensive!

The euro style is the creme for warm/hot weather.
It truly is cooling and makes all my rides more comfortable.
I rode for years without chamois creme. That wasnt very smart. But i prefer the density of this creme as it adheres to a wide range of pads nicely and (in my opinion) carries the cooling sensation longer.
Beyond that, It reduces friction longer.

Nice Jacket!

Louis Garneau Geminix Jacket

Louis Garneau Geminix Jacket

Rating for this product: 4 July 27, 2012

I am 6'2" about 200-205 (16.5-17 neck, 34/35 sleeve length), 41" chest.

I bought the medium, as LG product fits larger than Euro sizing. As well, I prefer a tighter fit and dont like a lot of flapping in the wind.

I bought mine off chainlove, for $25, what a steal!!!

Construction appears good, the fit is good, it didnt smell like a chemical bath and once you have it on the colorway isnt that bad, either. At the size medium, it will be work with a short sleeve jersey and arm warmers most likely or as a commuter jacket in Fall.

I will be keeping my eye on chainlove. If it comes up again at $25, I will be buying a Large to layer under.

It is hard to rate the windstop (it is July after all). But the material feels like pretty typical, sturdy windstop.

I have one knock on it. I wish the front had 2 hand pockets.

Also, I have one compliment. Thanks for the zipper guard on the chin flap. I hate when my beard gets caught!

Aspide greatness

Selle San Marco Aspide Racing Saddle

Selle San Marco Aspide Racing Saddle

Rating for this product: 5 July 20, 2012

I have been riding an Aspide, in one form or another, on my road bikes for about 9 years.

Thisnis a minimal saddle that doesnt dispense with comfort. It isnt a flat piece of plastic wrapped in saran wrap.
San Marco manages to keep the suppleness of form in a minimalist package.

The saddle has just the right amount of padding, making it ok to ride on longer outings, not just a few laps down at the crit.
As well, The Aspide has surprising depth allowing a good deall of length tomget outnon the nose for extended speed efforts and a enough of a lip to leverage your buttocks on seated, longer climbs. My white saddle has remained quite clean and naturally white with regular attention, using baby wipes, too.

Traditional bend for the win

3T Rotundo Pro Handlebar

3T Rotundo Pro Handlebar

Rating for this product: 5 July 20, 2012

3t makes one of themost beautiful traditional bend bars around. It is stiff, allowing confidence for pulling on bars in the drops. It isnt an anchor, either. Diameter is perfect for comfort on long rides and the handy guidelines make it easy to set up shifters. I use these bars on 2 of my bikes.

Easton EA90 Aero Wheel - Clincher

Easton EA90 Aero Wheel - Clincher

Rating for this product: 5 July 20, 2012

I always wondered Easton wheels. Then, i bought the EA90 Aeros.
Kick ass.

I like the deep dish rims with the spoke pairing. They roll great here in SW Missouri over rollers and out in the flats. The bearings are smooth and the hubs are beyond stealth silent.

I am not small for a cyclist...6'2" around 205lbs. These babies do not flex, even when standing. As well, they feel solid tracking through fast corners and bends.
These wheels take me over rough roads, chip and seal, smoothly and with aplomb. They arent carbon, but i dont care.
So far, so good.

LAS Victory Helmet

LAS Victory Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 July 20, 2012

I must have a problem. I just bought the blue Victory for use on my fixed gear rides. I now have 3 LAS Victory helmets in my helmet stable. My other 2 included the extra bug netting along with the regular strips of padding, if you dont want the bug netting.

Well, i dont wear the bug netting, except in winter. It restricts the airflow and makes the helmet too hot in warm weather. But the function of the bug netting padding is better than the little strips when arent using the netting. It is a conundrum.
All of that is to say, the US version without the bug netting is very pleasing! The padding is far and away better than those weenie strips.

You get all the benefits of a, ah, padding cap inside the helmet, without the airflow blockage. The feels better, as such, too. Great helmet...looks super cool, vents well, adjusts supremely! Good stuff.

Louis Garneau Neo Power Bib Shorts

Louis Garneau Neo Power Bib Shorts

Rating for this product: 5 July 20, 2012

Man, what a smashing bib! I have been using the LG Team bibs and really like them alot. But I picked up a pair of these and, wow!
The pad is better & larger, the fit is better, the fabric is supple...these babies are kickin.

I dont feel these are quite as compressive as the team bibs, but not so much it would bother anyone. They are not loose in any fashion. A big plus, i think the inseam is just a bit longer. I appreciate it at 6'2" 36 waist 34 inseam...many times i end up wearing short - shorts with some of the shorter inseam offerings out there. The pad here is broader for more coverage without being a diaper. btw, i wear a large and have no fit issues here. I will be buying another pair (at least)!

Selle San Marco Concor Saddle

Selle San Marco Concor Saddle

Rating for this product: 5 July 20, 2012

Full disclosure: i believe San Marco produces the best saddles in the world!

I use this saddle on 2 of my bikes...one road bike and my fixed gear. It serves the same purpose on both. It is very comfortable in that it acts like an actual saddle and not a flexy, flat board, like many others. The nose is comfortable to move up on when you really get moving. The lipmon the tail is the perfect leverage point to scoot back against on any seated climb. The colors are great and dont run or anything drastic like that. In fact, they gain a cool patina over time of use.

Rating for this product: 5 July 20, 2012

Incredible saddle! I actually put the saddle on my mtb. The relief channel does the job creating a nice zone to place my posterior.
The length is great providing ample room to move. Pair that with the slight rise one the tail and it provides a nice leverage point for grinding out hills on my single speed MTB.

Lezyne Micro Caddy Saddle Bag

Lezyne Micro Caddy Saddle Bag

Rating for this product: 1 July 17, 2012

Previously, i gave this bag high marks....I guess it is because I never needed it before today.

I flatted and went for my tube in my Lezyne bag.
UNFORTUNATELY, there was a hole in my bag (i suppose from rubbing against my seatpost?).

This compounded my flat tire problem. Why? Because there was a hole in my bag, there was a huge hole in my tube.
Super lame! I am really disappointed. I pimp lezyne pumps, the fire break hydropack, patch kits, levers, etc...but to be let down by a product thta is to add security is inexcusable.

Rockstar Light

Lezyne Power Drive LED Headlight

Lezyne Power Drive LED Headlight

Rating for this product: 5 May 28, 2012

Lezyne scores another big hit with me.
The lght comes with 2 size mount rings: 31.8 and 25.4. The rings mounts easily and securely.
As well, the light connects easily to the mounts and stays there.

The light turns on easily and there's no secret combination to move between the 3 lighting modes. I hate to say it. But, as usual, Lezyne machining is pretty impeccable.
It is a secure light that is bright as hell. 300 lumens will light the roads with easy, even on the "low" setting.

To top it all off, the price is ridiculously great!!

Green Guru Gear Vulcar Truck Tube Messenger Bag - 1710cu in

Green Guru Gear Vulcar Truck Tube Messenger Bag - 1710cu in

Rating for this product: 5 March 25, 2012

Once more, this was a purchase before real cyclist started carrying the product. But I would encourage the purchase due to realcyclist's high standards.

This is not a weenie messenger bag by any stretch.
The rubber tire tubes are an amazing protectant.
It is very durable and scratch resistant.
The strap is sweet. It isnt a padded addition that slides around. It is nicely padded with a fairly breathable mesh. Not to mention it is nice and wide, helping keep the pack in place while shredding the mean streets.
The interior is well thought out, too.

There aren't 18 unusable pockets....
There is a nice zip pocket on the the facing exterior, under the flap.
The interior proper has a long zip pocket (where I keep my timbuk2 tool shed).
There are a couple slotted pockets below that pocket for smaller items.
On either end of the interior are two open pockets topped with a little elastic.
I like to use those for cycling cap/gloves, flask, water bottle, sunglasses case, mini pump/inflator. Finally, as is common, a velcro pocket for laptop, etc(i shove my ipad back there or a rain jacket.

Anyway, it is a great frikkin pack not overthought, tough, and functional.

Lezyne Fire Break Pack

Rating for this product: 5 March 10, 2012

I use this pack for mtb'ing.
It is perfect for a day outing. Some may find it smallish, but i cant stand big, hot bulky packs out on the trail.
The resevoir is big enough. Though, I pair it with at least one water bottle (i freeze water in half the resevoir and fill the remainder with cold waterthe morming of a ride...it will stay could for hours!). Bonus: water does not taste funky out of the hose. While it is a smaller pack, i can fit the following in storage easily: multi tool, tube, p&s camera, 4/5 gels, 2 clif bars, patch kit, toilet paper, spare gloves, and cell. It has a placement for a pump but I use the Mmamoth 2 frame pump and keep it mounted to the bike.

Louis Garneau Carbon Ion Jersey - Short-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 2, 2012

No aero arms or multi-material construction here.

This is a nicely made jersey with a competent fit.
The size chart is accurate. I am 6'2" and 205. I ordered a L & the fit is pretty spot on.

The arms are not too loose or tight. Graphics or lack of, keep the jersey conservative. The material feels comfortable and airy.

De Marchi Contour Plus Bib Short - Men's

De Marchi Contour Plus Bib Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 February 2, 2012

These shorts came in a fancy box.

I expected nothing less.
The bibs are just a little loose for my taste. The construction is great and the pass is truly all. Encompassing in fit. DeMarchi spared little in it's making.

The bib fabric is fairly dense but feels supple to the touch while supportive. A very nice short.

The only downfall for me is the loose straps.
Note: the across the inseam is different than any bib ever tried. It is actually wide. There seems to be some emphasis on allowing the short to form to the body multi-directionally. This is against the standard narrow cut of, causing material to bunch after an extended period on the bike.

These bibs feel cheaper than my other LG bibs (Equipe) from Bonktown. Yet, these cost more.

Sugoi RS Bib Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 1 February 2, 2012

These bibs seem very well made. I haven't ridden them, yet, though.

The padding feels plush just trying them on. The fabrics feels great, too.
I bought the black/white pair.

I am most excited about the material othe side panels. It feels nice and compressive, but it is also sheer. I hope this leads to a nice cool ride in the heat.

I also like that the fit comes up the front, sides, and back. There isn't mile of bib strap too deal with. Good stuff, so far.

I had to drop these to 3 stars. The stitching came undone on both legs during the first ride. I am exchanging them. We'll see what happens with the next pair.

I have no idea whatbis going on with these shorts. I threw them on and headed out. I noticed a few miles in...these fit really differently from my return pair. Seriously, they fit like i was wearing womens shorts. I went ahead and finished the ride. But the shorts were hitting me above mid thigh. Jthese Sugois are too inconsistent for me.

Lezyne Micro Caddy Saddle Bag

Rating for this product: 4 January 31, 2012

I like the velcro enclosure on this bag. It keeps the bag secure and snug under the saddle. I do not worry about losing it over rough roads.

There is enough room for a tube, patch kit, and a slimline tool, perfect.

The downfall comes in form of the material. After 6 months of use, there is already a hole in the tope of the bag (I guess from rubbing the saddle?) I thought it might be more durable.

Louis Garneau Carbon HRS Shoe - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 31, 2012

I should clarify the excitement from my original review.

These shoes are winners in every season.

In Spring and Summer they breathe exceedingly well. The Fall and Weather inner sole insert works to stem the flow of cold air for the cooler seasons (I pair with toe warmers and wool socks down to around 40F, full shoe cover, there after).

The shoe fit is narrow but not as narrow as, say, Diadora. I like the sturdy heel cup as it is secure and nicely padded for comfort.
The straps and micro ratchet work well.

They are nice and shiny shoes that look sweet and cleanup easily with baby wipes.

Wide and warm

Castelli Viva Thermo Headband

Castelli Viva Thermo Headband

Rating for this product: 5 January 29, 2012

Finally! THere is a headband that works!.

I have owned probably half a dozen differnet headbands in the past, including Castelli that were the worst.
The fit was loose, the material was wrong and they were too narrow to actually cover ears or remain in place.

This head band solves all of that! It is a wide band with great coverage, nice soft burshed material, stays in place and keeps my head handles warm.

Wear it by itself when it isn't too cold...down to around 50F (thus allowing some heat to escape as you warm up) or a little below or pair it with a cap (I use a craft windstop under 45F) to really keep things nice and toasty.

It is super short & it take a lot of strokes to inflate a 120 PSI tire, too many. The handle is cheap plastic & the base is not very stable.
Trying to pump-up a tire all haunched over like two farm animals isn't comfortable or ergonomically sound.

The gauge is subpar, as well. It would read 110psi & suddenly drop to 80 without any air releasing. There's a ghost in the machine!!

Anyway, I will be offloading this noodle-y pump soon.

Crank Brothers Candy X Pedal

Crank Brothers Candy X Pedal

Rating for this product: 4 January 19, 2011

I used these on my MTB for about 5 months.
The platform has a tendency to get in the way of exit/entry. But the springs were absolutely fine.
Egg Beaters work better.

BUT!
I moved these too my fixie, road bike and the fit is perfect.
I can use clipless shoes or slap on the platform attachments and ride around in flip flops, if I choose.
These are a great deal at $19.95 on chainlove.com

LAS Victory, a helmet victory

LAS Victory Helmet

Rating for this product: 5 January 1, 2011

Really, this is a great helmet!
The fit is close to Bell helmet fit (sweep/volt). But it is better than that.
The sizing is a bit smallish. Not a huge problem for me (I've a small bean).
The retention system allows for a nice variance on comfort fit options. The fore/aft adjustment rules!.
Like most helmets today, it is light and vents well. I cant imagine riding with the mesh, bug guard liner in warm weather. But it works nicely for a cool, cold weather breathable insulator.
It is overall secure and comfortable & looks awesome!

Castelli Logo Bike Glove - Men's

Castelli Logo Bike Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 August 22, 2008

My Logo gloves are basically a cooler looking version of the old castelli simple gloves. The are comfortabel and not stuffed with too much padding or gel. I like them.

I find the loops helpful in assisting in sweaty glove removal.
