Has anyone else had this same experience with the 102 being more narrow than the 100? It is odd that the 102 is less expensive than the 100 considering it is the follow on model. which one is better? [Here is a response to this customer’s questions from Jacob Uhland, our The North Face Sales Representative: “The Ultra 102 fit is narrower. The biggest and most noticeable difference is the width of the bottom sole. The Ultra 100 had lugs that stuck way out and caused rubbing problems with runners who had narrow strides. The new Ultra 102 is 3 ounces lighter per shoe! The refined sole allows for this reduction in weight. The 102 is also more cushioned front and heel. The 102 has an Outlast sock liner rendering the shoe much cooler in hot weather. Because we increased the thickness of the sock liner for the new Ultra 102, giving the shoe more cushioning, we decreased the volume. Please make sure to increase your size by 1/2 when upgrading from the Ultra 100 to the 102. The reason the 102 is less expensive is that our factory is able to produce more of this shoe and at a lower cost. The Ultra 102 is the best shoe TNF has ever produced.”]
