GREAT BAG!

Black Diamond Tool Box

Black Diamond Tool Box

Rating for this product: 5 March 30, 2009

Just bought this bag and love it. I used to use the orange Black Diamond crampon bag and always found it hard to put crampons away in that small bag, especially when conditions are frigid and you don't have time to mess with such precise fit. The ToolBox is nice and spacious and I can EASILY put my spikes away and don't have to worry about them poking out through the holes (like the orange bag has) and ripping my other gear.

Black Diamond Factor Alpine Touring Boot - Men's

March 29, 2009

I'm thinking about getting a pair of these boots. I currently use the Scarpa Tornado (25.5) and Scarpa Hurricane (26.0) for AT and alpine skiing (both Scarpa boots are the same shell size, 300mm). I know with Scarpa boots that the half size and next size up (like my 25.5 and 26.0) are the same size, and that Garmont works opposite (25.0 and 25.5 are the same size).

1) I'm wondering how Black Diamond does their sizing? Would a Mondo 26 work for me in the Factor? Or is it best to just get a professional boot sizing done to see what BD Factor shell would be best? I'm hoping a 26 would work.

2) Has anyone used both the Hurricane and Factor? How is the stiffness of the Factor compared to the Hurricane? Thanks!

No problems with this bag!

DAKINE Concourse Single Ski Bag

DAKINE Concourse Single Ski Bag

Rating for this product: 5 March 9, 2009

I debated between the Concourse bag and the cheaper Single Fall Line bag. The Concourse has internal straps to cinch down skis and poles, rather than external cinch straps, which I found to be a huge plus. I really like the full-lenthg padding too. My alpine skis are 169cm and my backcountry skis are 175's so I went with the 185cm bag. I also have extra room to stuff ski socks and base layers in too. Very happy with this bag!

AWESOME Pack!

Marmot Diva 45 Backpack - Women's - 2500-2700cu in

Marmot Diva 45 Backpack - Women's - 2500-2700cu in

Rating for this product: 5 March 9, 2009

For awhile I was using GoLite ski packs and finally got tired of the poor durability. I bought this pack and just tried it out on a bc ski trip. It took me awhile to figure out where all of the straps were (when the pack comes new, the straps are hidden). You have to pull out the diagonal ski strap from the bottom. Plenty of room for avy gear, extra clothes, crampons, food, etc. I am highly impressed. The only thing I'd like to have is an insulated water sleeve on the shoulder straps, but it's not a huge problem.

Black Diamond GlideLite Nylon STS Skins

March 8, 2009

I just bought a pair of Volkl Mantra's. The widest part of the ski is 133mm. Would 120mm skins be sufficient?

What a nice boot bag! Lots of extra room for hats, gloves, goggles (I put 2 pair in), etc. (not a helmet) after I put my boots in the bag.

Arc'teryx Bird Head Toque Beanie

Arc'teryx Bird Head Toque Beanie

Rating for this product: 5 December 29, 2008

I have a normal-sized head and this hat fits perfect (I'm female). It fits to just below my ear-lobes. I really like the inside fleece-liner around forehead and ears so it doesn't itch. I also have room to wear a fleece headband underneath for extra cold days.

Arc'teryx Stinger Jacket - Men's DO NOT USE

November 20, 2008

Would the Stinger or Sidewinder be better for the harshest conditions backcountry skiing? Is one of them warmer?
