Marmot Trestles Sleeping Bag: 15 Degree Spirafil DO NOT USE

I bought this bag right about 1 year ago. I was headed out on a cross country bike ride in June and I wanted something that would get me through the cold June nights at higher altitudes we might run into, but not be too heavy. Well, this bag worked great. It always seemed to keep me warm, even the dreaded night of the sprinklers. We were sleeping in a baseball dugout in Wyoming and at midnight we wake up and we're already soaked because the sprinklers had turned on. By the time my friend figured to put the trash can on top of the sprinkler our stuff was thoroughly soaked. However I slept through the rest of the night wet but warm, while my two friends froze their butts off and had to take naps at 6am when the sun came up. I recommend a compression sack if you want it to be small.

This thing seems very heavy duty, but doesn't actually weigh a lot for a 3 person tent. I spent the entire summer cycling across the country in this thing. We had 3 people sleeping in it most of the time and we weren't rolling on top of each other too much. I'd recommend it more for only two though. One of the best things about it is the two doors, especially with 3 people in the tent. And there were many times when we piled all of our panniers under the pretty spacious vestibules on both sides. Overall I'd highly recommend this tent.

Good, but get the Simmerlite

MSR WhisperLite Stove

MSR WhisperLite Stove

Rating for this product: 4 June 2, 2003

I've only used this stove a few times since I got it, and I had used a friend's before on a limited basis. After using it a little more, I honestly wish I had gotten the SimmerLite instead. Because this stove only has one setting (high), it's easy to burn your food if you're not VERY attentive to it and constantly stirring, and even then I've burned a couple of things. So most of your food ends up a bit runny. But other than that it's an awesome stove. Very easy to light. It fits perfectly inside my convenient MSR pots. And it boils water pretty quickly when you have the foil wind insulators around it.
