La Sportiva Baruntse Mountaineering Boot - Men's

Take the liner out of the shell, put your foot into the empty shell, and "center" it. If you're touching the shell with your foot anywhere and a little wiggle won't fix it, molding the liner won't help you.

CAMP USA XLC Nanotech Crampon

I've seen a lot of aluminum crampons on Rainier among the guides. The "rule" seems to be, if you have solid footwork and aren't going to do a lot of scrambling around with your feet, and aren't going to spend a lot of time in scree, aluminum "should" be fine. YMMV

Black Diamond Sabretooth Clip Crampons

IMHO - you get the crampon that fits your boot. I've seen both types falling off while climbing. If there is space between the vertical "bars" and your boot no amount of cranking on the strap will keep the crampon on if you do anything that torques it. If you're just walking around on ice, this might be overkill.

CAMP USA XLC Nanotech Crampon

Vasque Radiator has an odd sized front toe welt. My BD and Petzl crampons don't fit, as they're too narrow. My CAMP Vector also do not fit. [another site] says if you have tele boots use the automatic in this crampon, so it implies that the bail is wider. Is that true? Will it fit the Radiator?

I mean, really, you fill it with gas, put the pump in and let'er rip. It works. It doesn't leak. Rinses out easily enough if you want to try smuggling it on board a plane.

prAna Ninja Pullover - Long-Sleeve - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 23, 2009

Fits a bit tighter than other Prana stuff. Sleeves not as mobile as you'd like for climbing or anything requiring range of motion. Stains easily (cotton?). Durability is probably on par with other sweatshirts - don't wear it for scrambling etc. if you don't want it to wear through.

Outdoor Research Arete Glove - Men's

Outdoor Research Arete Glove - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 23, 2009

Had these on Rainier and above 5,000 M in Ecuador a few times. Easy to deal with, decent liners. Love the idiot straps (cause I'm an idiot at 5,000 M).

Negative: Not a lot of insulation in the palm - if you spend all day with an ice axe in your hand you will chill a bit.

The size chart seems wrong. The large is smaller than the medium. Is this correct or a typo?

JanSport All Terra Duffel Bag - 3250-5300cu in

Rating for this product: 5 December 10, 2008

Got this instead of TNF bag. Took it to Ecuador on mountaineering trip. Survived flight. Survived lashing on horses. Survived sitting in misty rain w/o leaking. Survived sharp stuff (axe, poles, crampons, etc) inside.

Love the 3-sided opening and the "laundry" bags inside both ends. Strap comfortable. Inside zipper bag great for small stuff you want to find fast.

Tough, durable, water resistant. Highly Recommend. Nothing bad about it. Sent it to China with my wife. Think she's acquiring it from me...

Got size 4 for a down bag. Took to Ecuador. Rained every day. Bag stayed dry. That's the most important thing, so it did the job. Light and dry. Get one.

Sea To Summit Ultra-Sil Dry Sack DO NOT USE

Sea To Summit Ultra-Sil Dry Sack DO NOT USE

Rating for this product: 5 December 10, 2008

Took to Ecuador as a summit pack liner. It rained every day, but my summit pack was so totally waterproof, I ended up leaving my dry clothes in the S2S ultra-sil down in camp so I would have dry clothes to come back to. It is so thin you can see through it, so it's easy to dig your stuff out. It also compresses your stuff to save room in your duffel. Cheap insurance for dry clothes.

Mountain Hardwear Expedition Duffel Bag - 3000-8000cu in

Large = 32 x 16 x 16 = 64" circumference. That's 2" over the baggage limit of most airlines right now. Is that including seam allowance, or actual measurement? TIA
