The photo of the yellow boat shows fishing rod holders, the orange one does not. Does one have them, and one not?

Scarpa Typhoon Alpine Touring Boot

January 20, 2012

Hey Brian, I have not tried the Hurricane Pro, but I would warn you that these are not as stiff as they look. I have been skiing my Scarpa Spirit 4s full time, because they are so comfortable, but they are not quite stiff enough for big mountain skiing. I bought the Typhoons hoping they would be a bit more burly, but it turned out they actually had a softer flex than the Spirit 4, so I returned them. I'm planning to try the Hurricane Pro at some point, as it seems to have a higher cuff, and possibly stiffer flex.

Litespeed Archon C3 - Ultegra Build

December 14, 2011

Hey John,

I like the way you put that. I too am 5'7" and I find that I have to go VERY small for tri bike frames. While a 52cm road bike fits me just fine, I had a 51cm cannondale slice that was simply too big. I had better luck with a 48cm cervelo P2c. Maybe a touch small, but you can always put a longer stem on or add rise. I also rode a 50cm Felt B2 for 2 seasons, and that was just about right, but even on that bike I could not get a very aggressive aero position without negative incline on the stem.

I think it also depends on how long your legs are. I have a 28/29inch inseam.

Great boot - need to add alpine sole option

Scarpa Spirit 4 Alpine Touring Boot

Scarpa Spirit 4 Alpine Touring Boot

Rating for this product: 5 January 30, 2008

These boots are great. Even without the extra stiff tongue they are as powerful as most alpine boots. They are much more fun to ski than the Garmont Adrenalines, but since they don't have an alpine sole option they don't fill the one boot for all needs role they really could. If Scarpa added an interchangeable sole option I would buy them in a heartbeat.
