So this is a comparison review, new vs. old.
I bought a new set off of Steep and cheap to replace an older pair that I bought about 4 years ago. The new ones have the inline mic. I bought these to use with my Droid phone, and I assumed they would have the same sound quality as the old pair, that did not have a mic, but an inline volume control slider. Well, when I got the new ones, put the old ones in the drawer as backups and kind of forgot about them. After using the new ones for a few weeks I realized that something was different, so I did a comparison test. Same song at the same volume from the same ipod. Wow, what a difference. The old pair had MUCH better bass response and were louder and clearer in general. These are essentially the same product here, both FMJ 11mm earbuds, but the difference between the two is huge. I am not sure, either they really changed the design in the last few years, or I got a defective pair. The new ones I would give maybe 2.5 stars, the old ones are more like a 4 or 4.5 for sound quality.

POC Frontal Helmet

March 9, 2010

You would need a L/XL in the Frontal, my head is about the same size, and it is a snug, but not necessarily uncomfortable fit. But a helmet should be a snug fit to be effective in a crash. The vent on top has a slider to open/close, but it is recessed and a little stiff to operate, you'll probably have to take your gloves off. It's a nice helmet, kind of big, but you can tell it will do it's job if you need it to.

The waterproofness of you jacket can be restored with Nikwax TX Direct. The gore-tex membrane is under the outer layer of fabric, which in itself is not waterproof. This stuff worked wonders for an old pair of gore-tex pants that I thought were shot. Gore-tex can't really work that efficiently unless there is a good water repellent barrier on top of it. Try it, you will be amazed with the results.
