I got both the Marmot DriClime and the Arcteryx Katabatik. The two jackets are comparable in function. The DriClime in fact felt softer and more buttery to the touch, but it lost on two points.
1) The cuff is elastic, which seemed less comfortable and less adjustable than Katabatik's hook-and-loop tape.
2) The DriClime has an open hem, whereas the Katabatik has pull cords and is hence more effective at keeping out the wind. Granted, the DriClime has a pull cord neck, but I think it's easier to keep the neck stuffed with an inner layer than it is to keep the bottom stuffed.
3) ok, style counts, too. The Arcteryx fit better. The cloth, while not as soft as the DriClime, seemed more durable. When worn in comparison, the Arcteryx did indeed seem slightly more efficient at blocking the wind and therefore warmer.
