Oakley Unification Softshell Jacket - Men's

Oakley Unification Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 26, 2013

I am really liking Oakley's Unification line up. I own the power dry mid-layer, and it works perfectly under the Unification Windstopper softshell. The coat has a nice DWR to repel water, is 100% windproof with the Gore Winstopper, nice hood, venting, excellent fit. I am about 58 135-140 and own the small in both, they work perfectly together. So light, yet great protection for the elements. Like Seth Morrison would wear anything that wasn't super cool...

Killer mid...

Oakley Unification Power Dry Jacket - Men's

Oakley Unification Power Dry Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 20, 2013

This is a fantastic mid-layer. I am picky about my layering. I am thin and live in a place that can get pretty nasty in the winter. I am 5'8" 135 pounds, the small fits perfectly. My other mid-layer is The North Face Jakson Jacket, and while this is not as warm for the nasty stuff, it is more versatile. The fabric pattern is very similar to the UA 3.0 and 4.0 base layers. The sleeves are long and you have to be creative if you want a normal looking cuff if moving to a casual setting. Just pull it inside itself and you can get a clean looking normal cuff. These two mid layers cover everything I would ever need. Oakley is starting to make some nice gear. Great fit, good pockets, polartec power dry is awesome. Buy one.

The North Face Black Bart Jacket - Men's

The North Face Black Bart Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 22, 2012

I am a big fan of TNF quality and durability. I bought this as a chore coat, something I won't mind getting a little dirty. This is great when paired with my Ice cap FZ fleece, DWR helps block some wind and percipitation, the light insulation works well with a fleece, great fit. I am 5-8 140, small is perfect.

Great pair of pants...

Mountain Hardwear Sarpa Softshell Pant - Men's

Mountain Hardwear Sarpa Softshell Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 14, 2012

This is only my 2nd pair of soft shell pants. the first being TNF Apex Big Wall pant. I am a North Face guy, but have to say these pants are miles ahead of of my other pair. I have only had for a week or so and have not put to hardcore tests, but the fit and finish is perfect. I wear a 30x32 in pants and the small fits perfect. They are very comfortable, warm and a great fit. I will be putting them to the test soon with more strenuous activities and will update. I was out for a bit today ( 0 degrees) with TNF Power Flux Polar tech tights and felt very comfortable. They also have a bit of waist adjustment with the dual snaps. The suspenders from my North Face Mountain pants also work with these. Mountain Hardwear rocked it on these. I also just received the MH Polar tech bibs and they are money under these pants.

Love em so far...

The North Face Arctic Hedgehog Tall Boot - Men's

The North Face Arctic Hedgehog Tall Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 30, 2012

I just got these, so will have to update on functionality later, but wanted to give my opinion on fit, comfort, etc...

I have several pairs of TNF boots, and if you have tried them on before, always go up a full size. I wear an 8 in my normal shoes, but my Baltoro's, Ice Storm GTX, and these are all size 9 and fit great, and I have a wide foot, cant even wear Nike tennis shoes.

These are comfy, light and work great with a slimmer fitting soft shell pant. I will get some use out of them very soon and will update on warmth and traction.

I really like these so far. More to come...

Agreed, perfect midlayer

The North Face Jakson Jacket - Men's

The North Face Jakson Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 January 23, 2012

I use this as a mid layer under many jackets, it has turned a lot of my jackets into multi-functional pieces. Great under a gore-tex 2L Shell, also great under my TNF Sentinel wind stopper and my Burton AK Blitzer wind stopper, and Apex Bionic. It really traps the heat for minimal insulation, yet allows your pits and arms to breathe well. Also works well as a stand alone piece even in moderately cold weather if active. North Face rocks another winner with this jacket. I am 5-8 135 and the small fits perfect. Also love the longer sleeves and monkey thumbs I have no complaints, but never do purchasing Summit Series gear.

Fantastic Gloves

The North Face Montana Glove - Boys'

The North Face Montana Glove - Boys'

Rating for this product: 5 January 22, 2012

I am not a kid, but have small hands and recently purchased these gloves at a local retailer for $30. The boy's Large fits me perfect. I have always had issues keeping my hands warm, not that I have many heavier gloves, mostly windstoppers and and dexterity gloves. We had a sledding party planned for my son's b-day and I was out on the hill with the boys for 4 hours, hands were perfectly dry and warm the entire evening and it was around 20 degrees with some wind. I am thrilled, one of my better purchases this season. They even have small pockets on each glove. Very comfortable. TNF rarely disappoints.

Burton AK Blitzer Hooded Fleece Jacket - Men's

Burton AK Blitzer Hooded Fleece Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 18, 2011

This thing is absolutely amazing! I bought this to wear on my motorcycle in cooler weather. I wear under clothes body armor and needed something bright that also blocked the wind (I like to ride in a hoody). I went on my first ride today, upper 50's, sunny and about 20 mph winds, on the highway at 70 mph, this thing does the job. It is absolutely a brick wall against the wind and very comfortable. I am 5-8 135 and bought the medium (need a bit of extra room for my body armor), works great. I could go with a small for casual wear or to layer under my shell, but this will work both ways also. I am thinking about getting a black one in size small, for being out and about in Iowa winter. Burton hit a home run here (I am normally a TNF guy). This will be an ultimate layering piece under my TNF gore-tex shell for the hardcore stuff...

Ok, I like this hoody so much, I bought a second one. It is windy where I live and gets quite cold, the small is a perfect fit without my body armor. I do not have the same issues as the other reviewer.

A huge shout out to Backcountry, needed this for the weekend and they upgraded my shipping for free, keeps me coming back. Thanks BC!

Rating for this product: 5 March 11, 2010

It is what it is, a t-shirt. Very soft, very comfortable, just a nice casual t-shirt. The sirt fits well, unlike so many other t's. I have a slim athletic build, 5-8 135, small fite perfect (no drying though). The medium shirts always seem to wide for me. Perfect sleeve length. I do not mind $25 for a well fitting comfy shirt, with a good collar. I bought the red and white, cool shirts. Nice!

This is a keeper.

The North Face Eidolon Pant - Men's

The North Face Eidolon Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 March 4, 2010

I was unsure about this purchase, as I was unable to find any reviews anywhere about these pants. I just got them today, so have not actually used them yet, but wanted to do a small write-up for others that were in my situation. First off, they are Summit Series, so they are very clean and have a very nice finish to the pant, they look very nice. I would say they are along the lines of an alpine\performance fit. I am 5-8 135 athletic build and the small fits me perfect, and I mean perfect( I wear a 30x32 in all of my other pants). These pants could not be tailored to fit me any better. They are very light, yet seem to be tough, and have some nice stretch to them. Definitely a running, hiking type pant. I am sure they breath well. I will be putting them to use in the next day or so and will do an update after I have used them. At $100 they are a bit pricey (probably a bit extra for that technical look and the summit series insignia), but once I tried them on, there was no way they were getting returned. I do not have the TNF Running pant or Prolix Pant, so can't really compare. I like these pants and would give 5 stars if they were $80.

I have been running in these and wearing them to the gym, fantastic pants, very breatheable.

The North Face Mountain Pant - Men's

February 17, 2009

I do not own the Free Thinker, but after reading the reviews for them, it was a no brainer to buy these pants. The Free Thiker are not the Gore-Tex Enduro Pro shell, they are just Gore-Tex performance like these, also read that the zip on the rear of the Free Thinker, is not sealed well. These pants rock, although the Free Thinker are way down in price now.

The North Face Mountain Pant - Men's

The North Face Mountain Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 10, 2009

What more do you need? Pants fit great, gaiters, Gore-Tex Performance shell, full zips, plenty of pockets and actually warmer than I thought they would be. The adjustable waist allows me to wear with either just a thin base layer, or add fleece for super cold in the upper Midwest. TNF does it again with another durable, nice looking, great fitting multi purpose pant.

The North Face Mountain Pant - Women's

Rating for this product: 5 February 10, 2009

I wrote a review for these pants in the men's section, but thought I should add one here also, since I actually bought a pair in the women's size. These are fantastic pants, the fit is perfect and they are warmer than I expected. The adjustable waist allows me to wear with a thin base layer only, or add fleece for extreme weather. I own 4 other pairs of shel tyoe pants(TNF Venture, Marmot Flash, Under Armour Bead pant) and these are definitely the best. TNF does it yet again!

The North Face Mountain Light Jacket - Men's

February 6, 2009

The mountain light jacket tends to be somewhat true to size though some room is available. The jacket does has the zip-in feature but the denali jacket "may" be somewhat bulky. This jacket will also work with the Nuptse vest/jacket but it feels/look really bulky! It's best to try it on at a nearby store.I would add that the TKA full zip fleece is a perfect complimentto this coat, not much bulk, yet very warm and comfortable.

February 6, 2009

I do not own an Alliance, but have tried one on, like this jacket much better. With the Denali, this would be extremely warm also. Very versatile jacket. As far as cost difference, tough for me to give an opinion, as I found this and the liner at a local Active Endeavors store for 50% off (jacket and liner for $180), if you can find that deal somewhere, it is like robbing someone. I would even say it worth reatil price.

The North Face Mountain Light Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 February 2, 2009

What an awesome coat. How can you get better? Gore-tex, TNF quality, removeable hood, zip-in compatible, pit zips. I got this along with a TNF full zip TKA fleece, heaven. Warm, light, durable and many different options with this jacket. Also fits true to size and is a bit longer than most TNF rain shells or soft shells(which is good). This is perfect for fishing in the North in springtime

The North Face Vanquish Soft Shell Jacket - Men's

January 28, 2009

What is the fit like on this jacket? From the sounds of recent reviews, these newer TNF shells (Free Thinker ll, Sedition lll, Vanquish), are all cut larger than the normal TNF jackets. I have tried on the Mountain Light gore-tex shell and the Medium fits great, as it does in my Apex magic and apex bionic. Is this true? I am 5-9 140 lbs, should I consider a small? Thanks!

The North Face Venture Side Zip Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 24, 2008

I bought these for my annual trip to Leech Lake in Minnesota for opening Walleye season, and was very impressed. We encountered some foul weather and lots of waves crashing in the boat. I rode point in our boat and was basically taking a 20 minute shower each time we made a run. These pants along with the matching Venture jacket, and my TNF Baltoro boots kept me 100% dry the entire trip. I did wear some Under Armour base layers underneath, but it was quite cold in the evening. Great product, as I always expect from TNF.

Oakley Enlist Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 October 19, 2008

With the 20% off right now, what a steal. I have several North Face jackets that I paid $130 for and as much as I like TNF gear, this jacket blows away the competition at the price. There is no way you find a jacket this nice and loaded for anywhere near the price. Jacket is warm, comfy, and a very nice looking jacket also. I needed something a little warmer than the normal soft shells and this fits the bill for the same price. Shred on!

To the person who asked the question, yes, it is and even more so than I thought from the description or pics.
