Mountain Hardwear Downtown Down Coat - Women's

November 12, 2009

What is the major improvement or difference from 2008 model? I could see the removable trim on the hood but what else? Is it puffier and warmer? I own Mountain Hardwear Sub Zero Jacket 650 fill and it is very warm and very puffy. I don't mind the puffiness at all because I hate being cold. When I tried the 2008 model, although it was 650 fill, it wasn't warm enough, so I had to return. I want to know if this year's model is similar to Sub Zero Jacket in turms of warmth.

Mountain Hardwear Downtown Down Coat - Women's

Rating for this product: 3 December 11, 2008

I own two other Mountain Hardwear size S down jackets(Phantom Jacket and Sub Zero SL Jacket), but this coat in size S is slim fitting.

I am size 4, 5'3 120lbs, wear size S, but wearing this coat with a long sleeved t-shirt feels small around the chest area. Zipped up and sitting and moving your upper body is uncomfortable.

I really liked the design, texture and the longer length and even considered exchanging to size M but checking the size chart, I decided not to.

Maybe this coat was designed differently from the other styles, and I am more used to less fitting style, but I wish the sizing were universal within the same brand. Also, I wish they had more color choices.
