Alpina Masters Kompressor Treking Poles

Absolutely fabulous! After 2 years in the field with them, I heartily concur with Backpacker magazine, which placed them #1 in their test of trekking poles. Last summer I thru-hiked the 165-mile Tahoe Rim Trail and this year hiked 625 miles of the California PCT. All of these miles were through steep, rocky terrain; so much so that this summer I wore down both carbide tips completely. I love the handles; the angle is great but the texture is better - soft but not squishy; conforms to your grip and doesn't slip when your hands sweat. I lent them to a friend on the TRT who had injured a leg, and they carried him for 140 miles with all his weight on them (he couldn't use one leg). He decided to keep mine and bought me a replacement pair. Everyone who sees them wants a pair.
