Arc'teryx Beta AR Jacket - Men's

Arc'teryx Beta AR Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 14, 2012

This is the best all around shell made AR actually stands for "all around" beta has to do with the length. The hood is large enough for any helmet and adjusts perfectly if your not wearing one like me (bad) lol wear your helmet! But ya I've tried on so many shells lately I feel like a store mannequin. The only coat that came close was the HH Odin mountain but it cost alot more and didn't feel as solid as this and may have helmet fit issues. I found a blue one on sale :) they make these in Canada and china I compared both could not tell the difference. If you want the best all around light shell that can handle anything you throw at it this is it. Arcteryx, the finest maker of outdoor clothing.

Black Diamond Contour Elliptic Shock Trekking Pole

Black Diamond Contour Elliptic Shock Trekking Pole

Rating for this product: 5 March 14, 2012

These are one of the most solid poles I've tried the triangle pole shape gives enormous stability if your a big guy or if you pack a ton of weight don't hesitate I just wish they had cork handles but it seems to be current trend for all makers to be lacking in that dept. These do come with baskets their just low pro.

LEKI Thermolite XL Trekking Poles

LEKI Thermolite XL Trekking Poles

Rating for this product: 5 March 14, 2012

I have a very similar pair of these (makalu cork same pole design otherwise) just a couple years old they have never let me down...they are sturdy and not too heavy less your a cry baby I've found the carbon to be over rated of the pairs I've tried out or owned I haven't found a pair as sturdy as these I've tried kompers, black d's both in carbon just seem a bit flimsy also the twist lock may save a millionth of an once but they can be faulty last thing you need is to have one fail on a downhill. Reliable, strong, and best quality. Leki.

Komperdell C3 Airshock Trekking Poles - Men's

Komperdell C3 Airshock Trekking Poles - Men's

Rating for this product: 1 March 13, 2012

Well picked these up today I loved how light they are and the greptile grip is awesome, here's the probs the baskets are a BITCH to remove also very fragile and the speed lock system is prone to repeat failure so bad in fact I only walked around my apartment once and had multiple collapses. I returned them for a cheaper pair of komperdell explore contours got em home went to pack them an realized the bottom section does not lock when retracted so u get 7 inches of play dangling out the bottom also the strap will not stay in adjustment and the material is cheaper than a Walmart leash. I called up their Washington state offices and told them the prob they said they are aware and will send me new bottom sections which is nice but they shouldn't have left the drawing board in that state who ever gave the green light to produce should be fired. Alot of trouble to get a decent pair of poles, my leki's never let me down ONCE.

Rating for this product: 5 March 7, 2012

This is the SAME tent as the Bibler I just a little longer, one of the top choices for cold weather. There's no fly to hassle with and the strength weight ratio is awesome. I'm just not a fan of bright tent colors, I prefer more covert ones for my nocturnal proclivities.

Katadyn Pocket Water Microfilter

Katadyn Pocket Water Microfilter

Rating for this product: 5 March 7, 2012

Plastic is not in this filters vocab neither is shoddy craftsmanship. Katadyne has filtration on lock down with this filter, 13,000 gallons of filter life that should get you 20 years or more if you use it wisely. Last thing you need is some cheap piece of junk breaking on you in the middle of nowhere buy piece of mind buy clean water. Its in a class of its own. I got a little MacGuver in me so I put an MSR pre filter and a charcoal filter on mine might as well be Aquafina.

Lowa Renegade GTX Mid Hiking Boot - Men's

Lowa Renegade GTX Mid Hiking Boot - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 March 6, 2012

These are great GP boots one of my trusted all around favorites, Lowa makes some of the best boots IMHO and are one of the few companies who bonds the soles in one piece, not glued then razor cut to remove excess glue, which is a major cause of sidewall tearing alot of people don't know that. If you want a general purpose boot that can handle anything pick these up (some of their high end models are made in Germany (:)

CamelBak Unbottle Hydration Pack

CamelBak Unbottle Hydration Pack

Rating for this product: 4 March 6, 2012

Ive had mine 4 years now never had a leak in the body, just the occasional mouth piece leak, it has served me very well, just one complaint I'd like more choices of attachment or a better way to do so because I have to get creative when putting this on my pack I never put em inside the pack cause I don't like unloading 60 pounds of gear to fill it up so if they work on that I'd be very happy.

The North Face Patrol Glove

Rating for this product: 3 March 6, 2012

I got these after we had a 5 degree day here in Boise cause my hobacks were non exsistant at this temp. I went into the local TNF and said I wanted the warmest gloves they had minus the huge gauntlet looking kind they had. So I picked up the patrols they are a great glove in all aspects accept cold weather...that day my fingers were still getting cold like a fool I payed full price 180 bucks, at that price my fingers should not be numb.

These are good all around gloves and look stylish they fit well, I use mine for driving mostly because when the temp drops below freezing these will not fit the bill. So if you want gloves that look classy and work in mild temps then pick these.

Cushion for pushin

Rating for this product: 4 March 6, 2012

Great socks very good cushion I do 20 mile hikes with a 60 pound pack and I've never had a blister since also a great choice if your boots r a little loose they will fill that gap nicely, the ones I have do seem to lose their elastic grip around my calv and fall to my ankle but that may be due to getting large size not medium only reason I gave 4 stars if it is a sizing issue then I give them 5 stars. I'll pick up some mediums and update soon.

This bag is good for early spring or cooler summer nights but I feel that it does not meet the posted cold rating. I used it in a van one night it was in low 30's and I was cold all night. It does pack small enough for most peoples needs it also zips into other TNF bags my gf and I would zip ours together she had the cats meow. I just feel for the money there's better choices.

I have the -20 exp long left zip version I gotta tell you I hate mummies HATE them I get claustrophobic, not anymore you can have a game of twister in one of these bags they are so stretchy. Bar none the most comfortable bag made. Warm to the temp advertised they don't lie like many other people I won't mention. The technique used to sow them keeps the down in place does not bunch up.

MSR Reactor 1.7L Stove System

Rating for this product: 5 March 5, 2012

Will boil water faster than you can put a chuck of chocolate in your mug, it will shock you! Well built, high quality. Keep in mind it is not for cooking just boiling I only put water in it. Has never let me down there are other brands that seem similar but don't be fooled they do not compare. Get this thing I recommend also getting a titanium spork to go with it. Ps it can hold that larger fuel canister if you do a little Tetris.

The North Face Zealot 85 Backpack - 4880-5185cu in

Rating for this product: 3 March 5, 2012

I hiked many miles with this pack, it will comfortably carry 50 pounds, any more than that I don't recommend. The shoulder and hip material is a little ruff and can blister me at times and the sternum straps are always freaking comming out of adjustment also its heavy even for a waterproof bag and the bottle holder is an after thought at best it ripped off first hike, it also has to be fully loaded or it just seems weird. Ok the good, It is one tuff bag you can beat the hell out of it and it adjusts easy, almost waterproof. If you want a waterproof bag go for the Arcteryx Arrakis 65L or a Naos 85L they are made in Canada, and are even more bombproof and way way more comfortable, has better item storage, also much lighter.

Arc'teryx Arrakis 50 Backpack - 3057-3661cu in

Rating for this product: 5 March 5, 2012

Ive owned the 50L reg and the 65L tall version Arrakis first off lemme tell you if your built in the back or chest area and are around 6 feet don't get the 50 it is too small you can't get that proper 45 degree strap alignment no matter how much you adjust unless your built like Pee Wee Herman. The 65L is still a bit tight in the underarm area of the strap my only gripe. This bag could hold up to a blast of c4 and still be waterproof. I use it as my B O B bag, it will outlast me and the earth. Theres no need for compression straps unless your carrying gold bricks even then doubtful. Now if you plan to use it as a flotation device it will barley let a drip of water in at the end of the zipper so don't hold it at the bottom of a pool. Quality is incomparable. I lucked out and got an orange one. Best part made in Canada still.

Outdoor Research Maximus Jacket - Men's

Outdoor Research Maximus Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 1 March 5, 2012

Well this just arrived and I gotta say it was a let down. I got the right size but the fit around the armpits is beyond annoying, so tight you can't layer with that problem. The first 5 mins of owning it one of the hood draw cords snapped. So ya do yourself a favor and avoid this jacket. Shame could have been so good. Let's make it in Seattle that would help. Just say no to made in Asia. 6 foot, 205, large fit great other than the armpit blunder. WTB pit zips.
