When I first put these pants on (I'm usually between 2 and 4, so I got 4s), I noticed that they fit kind of funny -- like Carhartt wasn't really sure how to design pants for women yet, and overcompensated for the differences in shape. This mostly translates to a very roomy butt/hip area, which at least is comfortable. I have a boyish build so this looks funny on me, but doesn't bother me enough to prevent me from wearing the pants everywhere. I recently wore these pants during a 4-day backpacking trip in New Zealand, where there were rocks and roots and mud a-plenty. My legs were pretty bruised by the end of the trip, but these pants took the abuse admirably. Not only that, you couldn't even really tell that they were dirty, once the mud had dried. My guy friend was jealous of these pants! Next time (assuming my current pair ever wears out!) I'll just opt for a men's pair, but my love for Carhartts is undying.
