I actually bought one in the winter of 2008 from somewhere else. It was my first ever Northface product. It became my standard equipment against the coldness right away.
This jacket is amazing because throughout the winter all I had to wear under it was a short-sleeve t-shirt with a button-up shirt. Neither one was made for cold winter. In other words, inside my jacket was my standard clothing the whole year. Of course, I still wear gloves and sometimes neckwrap, but as far as the upper torso, that's it. Guess what? I was living in Chicago.
When snowboarding in Wisconsin, this jacket even made me feel so hot that I had to get rid of the button-up to slow down sweating. I have to admit that I can bear with coldness a bit more than most people I know, but my friend who bought it at the same time has had the same feeling for this miraculous jacket. We both got rid of the bulky coats we had used to wear.
This year I decided to buy one for my dad, who is very sensitive to coldness, in Taiwan. Backcountry had a big on-sale plus $0.01 1-day delivery on Cyber Monday, so I didn't hesitate a bit to make the order. It turned out my dad loves it, too! He's been wearing it everyday ever since! The order was made on late Monday, and I got it on Wednesday, well in time before I took the flight next week.
I will definitely recommend this jacket, Redpoint, to anyone that is looking for a light weight jacket. Trust me, you'll be surprised with how much warmth it can give you!
