Great shorts, but can ride up a little bit when running

Stoic Thrive Short - Men's

Stoic Thrive Short - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 June 9, 2012

These are super light, they almost feel like board shorts. I wear them all the time when whitewater rafting, and they work great. The only real problem I had with them was that they rode up a little when I was running so that I kept having to push them down. Also, don't spill Chik-Fil-A sauce on them, it's super hard to get out :P

Stohlquist Rocker Personal Flotation Device

Stohlquist Rocker Personal Flotation Device

Rating for this product: 5 June 9, 2012

I'm a rafting guide on the New River in WV, and I've had this thing for a little over a month now. Long story short, it's fantastic. The S/M fits perfectly on my 6' 150 lb frame, and the high shoulder straps keep it out of my way whether I'm guiding a raft or running a ducky trip. It stays on great, doesn't ride up, and pops you right back up to the surface after even the gnarliest of swims. Speaking of swimming, it sits just right when you're swimming, be it aggressive (on your stomach) or defensive (on your back) swimming. It floats you just right in the water so that you can swim effectively without getting in your face. It adjusts down perfectly, and I really like the side zip, as you can wear it with the zipper undone when you're getting the trip prepped and still have the front and back to block the wind. The front zip pocket has way more space than it seems it does, and the mesh pocket is great for a water bottle, sunglasses (during calm spots) or a packet of trail mix! In summary, go for it, this PFD is fantastic.

Comfiest performance shoes

La Sportiva Katana Lace Vibram XS Edge Climbing Shoe

La Sportiva Katana Lace Vibram XS Edge Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 September 1, 2011

These are the comfiest shoes I have ever worn, bar none. On top of that, they are very high performance, excelling in heel hooks and edging. Even with the downturn, smearing is a breeze. In short, I love them.

Kelty Grand Mesa 2 Tent 2-Person 3-Season

Rating for this product: 5 April 20, 2011

I just got back from a two day climbing trip in West Virginia...camped in this tent through two nights of torrential rain and 45+ mph winds. It held up great both nights, didn't let a drop of rain in. It's also extremely easy to put up and take down, no more than 3-4 minutes for either.

Great Jacket, but one small problem

Stoic Welder Lo Softshell - Men's

Stoic Welder Lo Softshell - Men's

Rating for this product: 4 November 2, 2010

Let me just say first off I love the jacket. I'm 6' 145 lbs (so, skinny) and the small fits perfect and the sleeves are the perfect length. Most other jackets I get are too short in the sleeves for my body build. It blocks wind, rain beads off perfectly, and looks great. I had one of my friends tell me he loved this jacket more than any man has ever loved another article of clothing, and he hasn't even worn it! The only drawback is that the hood is bizarrely deep for the jacket, and so the brim covers up half your vision if you put it on without a hat underneath. As far as I can tell, there is no way to adjust this, but when wearing a hat, it fits fine. Great jacket overall!

Stoic Welder Lo Softshell - Men's

October 4, 2010

I would say get a medium. It is fairly slim fitting, but it's not exactly Euro cut, just athletic. I ended up choosing a small because I like my jackets fairly tight, but the medium fit me reasonably well and I'm 6' 145.

Beal Edlinger 10.2mm Golden Dry Rope

Rating for this product: 5 July 8, 2010

This rope handles better than any 10.2 I've ever felt. It's super smooth, but grips nicely in a belay device. Not kinky, dry treated, feels great, looks great, and at a great price. Literally the best rope I've ever used.

Black Diamond Uncut White Gold Pure Chalk

Black Diamond Uncut White Gold Pure Chalk

Rating for this product: 5 June 14, 2010

I can tell that we are gonna be friends.

This chalk is awesome. I've used SuperChalk my entire time climbing, and when I ran out this time, I figured I'd try something different. As soon as I got it in, I could tell the consistency was different. It seemed smoother, less like sand and more like powdered sugar...Not sure how else to explain it. First time I climbed with this, I could tell that this was gonna be my new favorite chalk.

Awesome Jacket

Columbia Crag Mountain II Softshell Jacket - Men's

Columbia Crag Mountain II Softshell Jacket - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 June 4, 2010

I got this in November, and wore it every day during winter. This single handedly replaced my winter jacket when layered with some warm clothes. It has no insulation, but serves as an awesome wind blocker, and the water resistance is pretty good too (though it wears off quickly). I even crashed on my bike with this thing on, landed right on the elbow and skidded, and it LITERALLY does not have a scratch on it. Layered up, I took it skiing in ten degree weather and it blocked the wind really well. Fit is great, I got a small and I'm 5'11" and 140 pounds, with long arms.

Great shoe

Mad Rock Con-flict Climbing Shoe

Mad Rock Con-flict Climbing Shoe

Rating for this product: 5 February 8, 2010

I normally wear a 10.5-11, and I got a ten, and they fit perfect. I can normally onsight about 5.10, and I've been working on a 5.13 climb for a while now. These shoes haven't magically gotten me the route or anything, but I'm definitely progressing much faster than with my other pair. They smear surprisingly well, edge like crazy, and heel hook amazingly. Highly recommended.

La Sportiva Miura VS Climbing Shoe

December 16, 2009

I wear between a 10.5 and an 11 street shoe, and I just tried on a pair of these today. I fit in the 39.5, but I like a tight fit. I'd say 40-40.5 would be perfect.

prAna Stretch Zion Pant - Men's

prAna Stretch Zion Pant - Men's

Rating for this product: 5 September 11, 2009

I got these pants around a month ago and have used them for climbing nearly every day at college. They look great, athletic cut (5'11", 140 pounds, I got a small, fits perfect) but run a little big. I normally wear a medium in pants like this, but the medium was just huge. The snaps on the side allow you to easily roll the pants up, and stay there securely. The zippered thigh pockets stay secure and don't swing around when they're full like on other cargo pants. Super comfy, and they look pretty dressy too, I've even worn them to church!
